I know hes a good outside shooter but at 7-1 270 and growing--to me that's a 5. I like the combination of
C-Lampe 7-1 270
PF Sweetney 6-8 260 we should let those guys be.In fact I am of the opinion that these guys will have serious runs at starting positions. Sweetney at 20 is far and away a much more advanced offensive player than spoon and othella and a better D player. What I would love is to trade Thomas for SF Al Harrington because he is a big 3 with athletic ability who can rebound. Think of this frontcourt long term

lampe 7-2 285
sweetney 6-8 260
harrington 6-9 1/2 250

i really do not care if we win next year although with Sweetney alone-he will be an impact player-much better than what peoplegive himcreditfor.we have to much talent not to make the playoffs.

briggs i like when you post

lampe is supposed to be the next dirk nowitzki. okay now imagine nowitzki playing center. would dirk playing center be playing to his advantage or create a disadvantage???

take your time...

i see you got your man sweetney. or would you rather the knicks had taken kaman...

lampe might be a more productive nba player than kaman. imagine that... and here you were wanting to trade the ranch to pick higher and take kaman.

life is funny aint it

all those years as a fan and now i'm the anti-knick. life is crazy aint it.

Knicks r going to create a monster out of Sweetney arrrrah hurtin the inside post(LJ)GEMME DA ROC!Lampe is gonna pull out the opposing teams center to shoot his jumpers on him and it also lets Sweetney do his thing.i cant wait, the Knicks already workin with Lampe's three point shots.he was 15-25 from the mark on his first serious work out with the knicks and T.Brand and Q.Richardson in a summer program.watch out dirk,he's only gonna get better and the knicks r currently talkin to Madrid about his contract.Hes a knick this season

Ive played basketball through college and have been watching 25 years.
No one is perfect in any analysis but for those who were shunning Sweetney and calling him othella and spoon were doing so without cause. the two guys I liked when 6-9 in the draft.

That being said Lampe is NOT Dirk Nowitski. Dirk Nowitski came into this league when he was 20 and weighed ONLY 215

this kid is only 18 and already weighs 270 pounds and the knicks scout was adamant that he was going to grow another 1-2 inches in height over the next year. So you are talking about a guy who could be 7-2 285 or so and 19 years old. hes got a bigger frame than Dirk and although he may be afantastic 3 pt shooter i dont want someone that big and skilled on the perimeter.

I want his game centered on the 5 position. And I think thats a reasonable assumption. Can he step and shoot-of course but he is going to be a 5. With the combination of these two oxes we are going to pound the ball into the glass and these guys are skill players, not jahidi white's.

I think the comparisons to Dirk are because of the German league connection and the sweet outside shots that both players have, but Lampe playing more of a post game could be a possiblilty. I think Dirk is something like 240lbs at 25 years old - he has small forward written all over. Lampe is 18 and is something like 270lbs, big difference. And if he keeps growing and puts on a few more pounds, he certainly could be an outstanding PF or even center, ala Vlade Divac.

ight true true,so can i say somewhat to a P.Ewing offensive type with 3p. ability.or R.Smits former pacer.its only right to compare him a center if he is going to be one.which both them centers took there team to the finals.

If Lampe and Sweetney start next year, it will give the knicks a jolt in the butt that they've lacked in the past couple of years. Imagine the lineup....

C Lampe
PF Sweetney/McDyess
SF Spreewell (If not traded)
SG Houston (I want to get rid of him badly, but for now he'll do)
PG Williams

Williams will improve now that Len Kroger (former Illinois coach with Williams) is now a Knick coach.

Plus, your forgetting the fact that last year, the Knicks did not have a legimiate lost post threat that teams feared. McDyess healthy and playing good is a low post threat...put his numbers in their with these guys, you just might have a true playoff contender in a soft Estern Conference.

briggs what was the point you were trying to make when you said you played basketball in college and that you have been watching 25 years????

is that why you create threads on 50 something players so you can come back and make a post about how the guys you wanted went 6 and 9????

i can name at least 15 players you created threads on...and then on one thread i remember you saying "after final evaluation" you were sold on badiane...or was it tj ford...wait, it might have been bosh...no if i remember correctly it was lang...no my bad it was pavel...you said the guys you liked went 6-9 but you meant 6-90?

now all of a sudden you are trying to give me a cliffnote on lampe..like you have seen him play or something or..wait did you play against him in college?? i don't remember you ever talking about lampe ..i DO remember you talking about 50 other players tho.

i "said" he is supposed to be the next dirk nowitzki...that is all i have read...his game favors dirk...he is not dirk but his game favors dirk...maybe he has no heart no bang inside and rebound in an nba season...i don't know but they didn't say his game was like a center...they said his game favors dirk...so that's what i posted.

you are correct noone is perfect. but especially you

when i post of how a player has been compared to another player why is it that someone comes back and post that he is NOT that player but then turns around and gives me an example of how he can be SOME OTHER player????

so all he has to do is keep growing and put on a few more pounds and he will be an outstanding center huh.

Prodson, I agree with you somewhat. I hate when announcers or the supposed "experts" say that, for example, Lebron James is the next Michael Jordan, or that Mike Sweetney reminds them of another Charles Oakley, or so on. That bothers me for 2 reasons:

1) Players that come before these rookies have established themselves on their OWN merit. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE has the right to take what they've achieved and place the similiar expectations on another person. Michael Jordan was is and always will be a one and a million player. Last I checked, we haven't reached a million yet. Lebron James is not the NEXT MICHAEL JORDAN. LeBron James is going to be the next LeBron James, no more, no less.

2) By comparing them to other players, you ruin the legend of those special players when the rookies don't pan out. It waters down what we hold as cherished into the question: "Who's the next big thing?" It cheapens the idea of individuality and uniqueness and turns it into a stupifying cyclitic waiting for the next basketball messiah to show up when in actuality, he has already come and gone.

I hope that makes SOME sense, I sounded good in my head.

But, nevertheless, Sweetney, Lampe and Vranes will be the next Sweetney Lampe and Vranes. What they achieve is only limited by their potential, and from what we've seen for Sweetney, so far so good. The jury is still out on Lampe and Vranes, but the verdict looks promising.

Ok, I'm done. Anyone care to comment on this?

I see that they don't play too much D. I also see a super all-star and 2 complimentary all-stars. What do you see in you proposed lineup?

K9.. my comment on Lampe was for those who wrote he'd start this year.

As far as Sprewell, I would welcome a trade IF it were for the right player.

My comment to you was concerning your off the wall comparison between the Knicks and Mavericks.
