I wonder how high up Thabeet will end up if he continues his meteoric rise in play?

we need isiah out before we draft- otherwise, he will say we are fine at center.

depending on where we pick (top 5), we need to pick bpa- and we also need to look ahead to next year's draft as well, since, lets be honest, we will probably be in the lotto again to see what kind of talent there will be available then.

our next GM has to be a chess master, plotting things out over the next five years, and not the short term visions and decisions that we have had with isiah.

Briggs, those numbers are nasty. I am a huge derrick rose fan, but I almost feel, if this kid keeps this up, we have to grab him. I would love to add another high pick, because one of these good PG's are going to slip past 10. Augustine, collison, mayo, Bayless. If we can get Thabeet and one of these guys, it will be sweet..

BRIGGS.. you just made my day. I was worrying about Derrick Rose or Beasley not falling to us. But this guy just might.

What really impressed me so far is his character. This video from nbadraft.net says it all:

I'm high on Thabeet. He's got the right tools, mentality and physical make up for what we really need. It's imperative that we make a deal to add another pick tho. We need to start thinking more like Portland and get as much out of the draft as we can. There are several players we could use in this draft so why not look to use whatever assets we have in order to stock up on a couple of these guys.

If you add a Thabeet and one of the Guards in this draft it would go a long way towards securing a good future for this team. Heck even a Forward like Dante Greene would be a good pick up. The point is to make every effort to get another good 1st rounder.

I like the guy, I would take him as the first big man on the draft. Shotblocking and good attitude, something we need.

This is OT: I dont have anything against Mardy, but whats this?

NBA Comparison: Mardy Collins
LOL!

word, me too... that guy is a freakin' monster & from the clips i've watched so far he's the shotblocker we need on this team in the worst way imaginable.

There are stipulations to taking Thabeet. He still needs two years of training time like Bynum had. The difference is that Hasheem could give us good minutes right now--impact minutes and if he continues at his pace in terms of strengthening his hands/core strength and does the appropriate learning 1-1[like bynum did with kareem] in terms of learning post moves and better footwork than you could sincerely have a more dominant dikembe Mutumbo as a result. If people want to draft him to win as a 40 minute player year one--you would be mistaken. He's a very good kid, he has a very high IQ and his frame is the best Ive seen since Bynum. If things are done correctly with Thabeet[and Rick Pitino has also said that Thabeet has an unusually high potential level because of the rare combination of athletic ability and true 7-3 size with a good frame + EXCELLENT stamina for a guy his size.

I don't like wasting a pick on such a raw player. We can't afford to draft busts. If this guy turns out to be Diop II, we're screwed.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

yea, but diop is not 7'3 and wasn't as athletic. I see your point, but this kid also has some of seasoning at Uconn. diop came straight from HS. I don't know, this kid seems a bit different. If he pans out, just think of what he can do for our teams future.....
