here's my reasoning process behind suggesting trades:
1 - does it address a need on the team & have the potential to have a positive impact regarding team balance?
2 - does it farg our cap even worse than we're at right now?
starphuching is not a concern of mine as long as it doesn't go against rule #1... as long as the player being acquired improves the team overall & fills the holes we have, then i'm much less concerned about rule #2... it's when that aspect is completely ignored & the cap ramifications are overlooked in order to go after a player that doesn't address any needs or fit into any semblence of a logical plan to improve that really gets under my skin.
there's no rule that says you MUST trade only for young players making reasonable dollars in this game in order to succeed... it's OK to starphuch as long as it fits into some sort of plan to achieve improvement overall in your team in my view.
to address ur question:
Do you believe that adding JO or Wallace or Artest would somehow change the culture of our team and lead you to believe we would witness a 45 win season and at the very least a 2nd round playoff appearance next year?
it all depends on who you're giving up in order to acquire those players... they all address needs on this team right now, which is defense... so if you're to ask me would i be willing to give up any of our veterans who have big contracts themselves to get 1 of those guys, i sure as hell would... for JO or Artest, go ahead & take anyone you want... just don't take D Lee cuz i feel he's a player that can really help us going into the future & i would want him playing alongside those guys... for Ben Wallace, my list would be more limited but i'd give up Curry, Zach or any of our lesser veterans for him in a heartbeat.
