According to O'Neal, the Pacers are in trade talks with several teams and it is no secret that Thomas has tried on several occasions to acquire O'Neal, whom he coached for three seasons in Indiana. O'Neal's high school coach, George Glymph, is on Thomas' staff. New York Daily News

Thomas might try to move Zach Randolph, who last month was the subject of trade talks involving Milwaukee. "The deal makes a lot of sense to me," one Knicks player said on Wednesday. New York Daily News

Randolph said yesterday that this season - his first as a Knick - has been extremely difficult even compared to his lean years in Portland. Randolph missed the playoffs in his final four seasons with the Blazers. "Losing is losing," Randolph said after the Knicks practiced yesterday. "It's more (difficult) here with all the distractions, there's a lot of other stuff going on. It makes it that much more difficult to concentrate." New York Daily News

Lately, Thomas refuses to say much about any NBA player not on the Knicks. When told that Nets president Rod Thorn spoke candidly about the Shaquille O'Neal trade, Thomas replied, "I don't know if Rod would say that if he was with the Knicks. I don't know if he'd be that free to comment like that." But when asked about the other O'Neal, Thomas' guard comes down. "Jermaine's one of my favorite people on Earth," he said. Newsday

It is believed that any moves by the Knicks this season will involve cutting salary. If Thomas could make this type of deal happen, it would suggest he has far more job security than anyone has speculated. Yet as much as the Knicks need to address their frontcourt problem, point guard still should be their top priority. Newsday

While most of the Knicks act and talk like they want nothing to do with Isiah Thomas, Pacers forward/center Jermaine O'Neal has made it clear that he would gladly accept a trade to New York. "I think in this business you got to be willing to believe at some point, if your team struggles you are going to be traded," O'Neal said after the Pacers handed the Knicks their seventh straight loss on Wednesday night. "I would accept it." New York Daily News

Isiah Thomas said yesterday the Knicks will have to "move on" from the Stephon Marbury Era in the offseason and shop for a point guard, but doubted they will pick one up by the Feb. 21 trade deadline. Of course, the chance Thomas will be in power this offseason appear slim, but the new GM's main job will be to figure out how to get on without Marbury, who next season will enter the final year of his contract. The new GM could decide to keep Marbury because he won't have a personal agenda like Thomas does. Thomas and Marbury are in the midst of a feud that began in November. New York Post

Thomas said the Knicks miss Marbury, but only nominally, continuing his theme the team is playing "better" the past few weeks. "I still feel we have enough to get it done," Thomas said. "We wouldn't be having this type of conversation about our guard play if two of our guys wouldn't be down in terms of (Quentin) Richardson and (Nate) Robinson right now." New York Post

1. Before this mess, I didn't really want any part of O'Neal. Now however, I would welcome this trade. We need some toughness up front. Bring it.
2. The End of the Moronbury era. I never thought I'd see the day. It's been 4 years!

Great. Lets add a player who doesn't play more than 60 games a season.

The bright side to the trade(if there is one) is that JONeals contract is 1 year shorter than Zach's.

Interesting bit is that the spin is that we would actually cut salary with such a deal, which Isiah may be doing to help CYA.

Adameck stated in his blog that it would have to be something like:

Zach + Jeffries for O'Neal

WE could have bought out francis an saved money, and kept Frye as an asset.

ignorance pervails.

So many predicted the failure of Zeddy.

Just what we need, more pet players for Isiah to indulge.

The only move that excites me is the one to oust Isiah.

In order to entice Indi to accept the extra 2 years of ZBo's contra (vs. Oneal), we'd have to take on Tinsley's deal, plus throw in Balkman. This is the only deal that would appear to work:

Indiana Pacers

Incoming Players
Zach Randolph
Salary: $13,333,333 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 17.4 REB: 10.2 AST: 2.0 PER: 17.62

Renaldo Balkman
Salary: $1,280,640 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 3.4 REB: 3.1 AST: 0.5 PER: 11.53

Malik Rose
Salary: $7,101,250 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 1.8 REB: 2.0 AST: 0.4 PER: -1.57

Fred Jones
Salary: $3,300,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.8 REB: 2.3 AST: 2.3 PER: 9.59

Outgoing Players: Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal TinsleyNew York Knicks

Incoming Players
Jermaine O'Neal
Salary: $19,728,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 15.3 REB: 7.3 AST: 2.5 PER: 15.60

Jamaal Tinsley
Salary: $6,300,000 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 11.9 REB: 3.6 AST: 8.4 PER: 12.97

I seriously do not like the way Jermaine o'neal plays the game.....he plays like he wants to fight everynight. Lots of muscle flexing and poppin ****. Lots of over the top tough guy stuff....

Thats with a Indiana jersey on. If he put on a Knick uni and did those things he would be my favorite player.

O'neal has been very vocal with the respect he has for Isiah. He also has always respected us fans.....however it gets done....lets ****ing do it already! Tinsley and Isiah have a butted heads but maybe after getting older and wiser(and better mind you), Maybe Tinsley can be the great NYC point guard that Marbs never could be.

Wait is this the same Jermaine O'Neal who was contemplating missing the rest of the season due to a sore knee.

And Blue I 2nd that motion the only move I want is Isiah's firing.

If Isiah is seriously allowed to still make a trade of this magnitude then I don't know.... I don't know how I could say that I am still a fan of the New York Knicks.

Check this out....its 7 mins, but it would make anybody want Jermaine O'neal.

He's not 21 anymore.

Yo......Zach could go but if O'neal is here.....Curry should be traded in the off-season. Lee and o'neal would be ideal.

Eny, why do you want O'Neal so badly? He hasn't played more than 70 games since 03-04(and he won't this year either) and he currently is out indefinitely with a knee problem. He's not exactly the model of a healthy player.

These trades are like constantly shopping for new boots when the feet are gangrene.

We have to get to the point where we are past this:

"Losing is losing," Randolph said after the Knicks practiced yesterday. "It's more (difficult) here with all the distractions, there's a lot of other stuff going on. It makes it that much more difficult to concentrate."

Has there ever been a manager associated with more "other stuff"?

Nothing good will happen here until this other stuff is behind us.

And here I was thinking I'm the only one who thinks this. LOL Spree

The dude is one the most overrated immature leader Max players ever. Has anyone else noticed when he dunks the ball on someone(and he probably has 10,000 dunks in his NBA career) he acts like it's his first time anyone has done it?

He has to stare every person down in the arena, hoping someone gets GUIDO courage on him Al La Run on the court Palace Brawl style so he can get a 94 ft running start, reach back to Bum Fuch Egypt, slip on some brew, to throw a Haymaker on them. Cut the Coc-k Diesel crap!

It's like Dude... How old are you? How how long have you been in this league? How many times have you dunked a basketball in your career?

I really can't stand him, not to mention his head is the Size of the Planet Jupiter with a receding hair line yet it took him almost 3yrs to figure out he shouldn't have corn rows in his hair.

Yeah man Jermaine is an *******.....but at least he isn't a puss like Curry. I would welcome him just to get some balls out toughness on the court. I don't have to like him. just as long as he brings it everynight. It's about the Knicks not any single player.

RUMOR: I have no link or physical proof but an internal source from the Knicks say the Knicks are trying to aquire Antwon Walker. It could be speculation but if it happens you heard it from Cook.

Jermaine O'neal would become the leader can make up for Eddy Curry bitchyness. I doubt his jumpshot is as efficient as Z-bo tho.

If that comes true, I'm also going to blame it on the messenger.

jermaine is finished. He is like marbury- lots of miles, nothing left in the tank.

can't we find some team like dallas that might actually be under pressure to get an asset? Instead of Indiana who is looking to dump a player?
