according to ESPN radio (Ric Bucher) the deal is getting serious....

Nene
Linas Kleiza
JR Smith
Eduardo Najera
Future 2nd round pick

for

Ron Artest
Mike Bibby

Denver's owner has stated that he's 100% willing to pay more luxury tax for a better team.

C: Camby, Hunter
PF: Martin, Artest
SF: Anthony, Artest
SG: Iverson, Diawara
PG: Bibby, Carter, Atkins

interesting.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

bibby and Iverson backcourt? I don't like that, now you add another scorer in bibby to that mix, there are already enough scorers on that denver squad.. I am not too high on that deal...

denver currently has 2 scorers, melo + iverson. that's it.

bibby was able to play with peja + webber without any problems.

the question is...bibby, iverson, artest, melo...who comes off the bench?

interesting.

my guess is AI would play the point w/Melo as the SG & Artest at the 3 w/Bibby as the 6th man... at least that's how i would handle it... Bibby & AI are gunslingers as is Melo... that's too many guys on the floor at the same time who like to shoot the ball IMO... if u have Camby, Martin & Artest as your frontcourt, that's an awesome defense right there... then Melo & AI can shoot to their heart's content & have those other 3 cover for them on D.

I didn't hear it being serious. I heard it's just being discussed. It's just a rumor.

and this is precisely why we need to fire isiah and get a new GM in so we might be able to off load a crawford, curry or zack to some west coast team that might get desperate.

You don't think Cuban is sitting watching this happy that his competition is getting more stacked.

Anyone watch Dallas play? They have no inside game. Dirk is a jump shooter- they could use Zach. Now- they'd be better with Kidd- but if they lose that deal, Zach might not be such a bad option for them.

If it goes down like that:

C- Camby
PF - Martin?
SF - Artest
SG - Anthony
PG - Iverson
6th man - Bibby?

Damn, that team would be stacked as far as the lineup goes but the bench will be stripped into crap.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

But webber was just not a scorer, but a facilitator, he passed from the post, both high and low, peja was not a volume shooter.. Iverson is volume shooter deluxe and melo gets his fair share of shots. I think this a different scenario...

The deal is a no brainer for Denver. Everyone is looking at it from an offensive perspective, which is totally the wrong way to look at it. They have enough with the trade somebody sits and obviously that player is Bibby. The reason you do this trade is to pair Artest with Camby. I hope this goes down so that the Lakers continue to get owned to expose Phil and Kobe.

Do you think artest would stay in denver? Do you think artest won't mind being the 4th option on a team? I don't know, artest likes to be part of the offense, that was a big problem they had with him in sactown... sometimes he fell too much in love with his offense..

talk about rolling the dice, it would either blow up or the nuggets would steam roll through the playoffs. thats essentially the best defensive front court in camby-martin-artest and the most potent scoring of iverson-melo-bibby

I think sometimes too much is made of Artest yes he's loosy goosy but you can't have the Star Power Denver has and payroll only to be a fringe team. They may not make the playoffs as currently constructed, yet win over 45gms. You roll the dice, make the deal, and worry about the carnage later. If they make such a deal then IMO they are a lock playoff team, definite contender. To be honest if these kind of deals continue to transpire the Spurs are the endangered team.

the guy is an awesome player, but carries w/him huge risks for any team he goes to... still, for a package of Kleiza, Smith, Najera, a 2nd rounder & the chance to unload Nene's contract & acquire both Bibby & Artest tho it would be a fair deal for both teams IMO... the Nuggets could look to use Artest for the rest of this stretch run & then trade him to the Knicks during the offseason if it looks like Artest doesn't want to stay there in exchange for expirings & some mix of youthier talent, or at worst case scenario simply let him go, take the cap relief & still have a pretty good player in Bibby left over for their trouble... for the Kings they get 3 players in Kleiza, Najera & Smith who are all solid in their roles, 2 of whom are signed to rookie deals, & another pick in the 2nd round... Nene's contract is horrendous, but maybe he can rejuvenate his career in another city... unloading Artest & Bibby would be half the battle for them to turn the team over to their younger talent... next up would be to trade off Miller, KT & SAR's contracts.
