this is a GREAT pickup. He was one of the guys I was really hoping for with one of our 2nd rounders. This guy played center for 4 years at Penn. Knowing he would need to play the 3 in the NBA he worked extremely hard at getting a perimeter game. He's tough, a super hard worker and a very smart guy (Ive league grad).
At 6'8 with his rebounding think of him as a poor man's Shawn Marion. He will fight his way onto the roster and become a good pro...mark my words.
He's a perfect bench player. To bad we have Othella, Anderson and about $40 million in bench players ahead of him.
I'm with you on the bench woes of the team, brother.
But, this kid sounds promising. I look forward to seeing him play in the summer leagues/ pre-season (if he is still around).
i've been able to see this guy in action play. really good post game. great, great hops - vince carteresque... In warm ups, he was doing NBA Dunk Contest worth jams... and Joe forte's brother, who is on Brown's team, who is all of 5'11" can throw down some sick ones too, but that's an aside story. Ugonna is british. Ivy league MVP for the past few years, carried his team to the NCAA's, great defender. nice footwork. a legit 6-8. Ugonna has a sweet outside shot, and is a crunch time player, and grabs great rebounds.
