Say Layden can make this team decent over this season and next. Would you support him sticking around or would you still want him replaced after all the bad moves he has made?

Personally I dont think he has learned too much from his mistakes and he just got lucky - he still has a lot to prove. But would you want him to stick around if he started to make some decent moves? Especially knowing his past?

Oasis, my belief is he got caught up in the politics of the knicks organization riffs(Ewing-Spree- Dolan) and at the same time his kids were really sick and going thru something. If this draft is an indication of his freedom now to pick talent freely away from the pressure of his boss(dolan just to sell tickets) then he should be given a chance to right the ship completely.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

You make a good point, and I agree he should have a chance to right the ship completely. But a little luck was involved with this draft...if Lampe hadnt slipped to 30 I am sure everyone would be calling for Laydens head. Fortunately that didnt happen and maybe we will luck out. I just hope they let Layden do his job instead of Dolan sticking his nose where it doesnt belong.

I think it's all in Dice's hands now. If he doesn't come back, Layden will be shipped out. If he does return, and when you consider last year's (Vujanic) and this year's (Sweetney, Lampe, Slavko), there's no denying he did the most with what he had.
go knicks!

I'll forgive all of them if the Knicks win it all. My level of forgiveness drops for each level down the Knicks get knocked out.

I'm hopeful about the draft picks. Reading the piece about them linked from NBA.com, I feel even better. I like that saying Slavko uses:

"The further you are from the basket, the closer you are to the bench."

Good one Slavko. Here's another one for ya: "Swat ball hard!" Just keep that kid in the gym for a year or two.

Macej wants to play here now, but he knows he may be in Europe for another year. It's up to Mills/Layden and Real Madrid to work this out and decide if he should season his game in Spain another year. Good luck guys.

Now, the real team-building begins on Tuesday. This is what decides how the team will look next season.

I support anything and anyone that makes the team a real competitor. Up to this point, Layden has not improved from the 1999-2000 team, the team he inherited. He has to get them into the ECF to show he can succeed, but given how bad the team has been the last two seasons, I'd settle for a scrappy playoff appearance for 2003-2004. That would stay his execution one more year.

Yo, if you could criminalize bad decision making; Layden would be straight under the jail…Forgive me if my body doesn’t shake with glee over what is perceived as a strong draft. Layden took this organization about a thousand steps back, 100 steps forward still means you got some more steppin to do .

My question within a question is what’s up with you playa2? His kids were sick? So the trauma over his kids forced him to give Eisely and Shandon Anderson 80 mil and place an albatross over the Knicks neck? It forced him to acquire ennui ridden players like Spoon , Felton Spencer, Othella Harrington, Travis Knight, ext… It forced him to give Allen Houston 30 million more than any sane G.M would have even thought of paying? It forced him to pass on Amare Stoudamire, Caron Butler, & Nene Hilario and trade for a player who was coming off of a year wiped out over an injury.

C’mon man, you are seriously digging deep over there. Check your tongue playa, you are doing some serious bootlicking wherever you’re at. Send your resume to the Knicks, you would fit in snuggly with the sea of bootlickers hibernating in the hallowed halls of MSG

Listen here partna, We all know of the bad deals Layden put out there, but nobody knows the mandate he gets freom Dolan his boss. He took a few risk and it didn't pan out last yr, now this yr they will . We got those 2nd rd picks from last yr draft day trade so the jury is out right now. You act like you're the only one who say his errors. But i can show you many teams gm's who blew it bad , but life goes on. Sometimes you gotta take two steps back to go forward, we went 15 straight yrs in post season and you still feinding for a championship team. With no top 3 lottery pick you have to give it time.
