This exerpt from a Wash. Post article.
Last week, in a steamy gym inside MCI Center, Washington Wizards General Manager Wes Unseld and new coach Eddie Jordan watched two international players work out. The scene looked like this: a 7-4 Yugoslavian center tried to back down a 7-foot Polish power forward. They inched ever closer to the basket, until the center faked left, spun right . . .
And missed a point-blank layup.
Maciej Lampe, the 18 year-old sharp-shooting small forward, held his own against the 7-6 Slavko Vranes. Lampe, who looked like a younger version of Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki, impressed the Wizards' staff with his outside shooting. He is expected to be chosen in the top 10. The Wizards pick 10th.
After Vranes missed another layup, he let out a groan, something that sounded like Godzilla's roar. Vranes does not speak to the media, because, as he put it, "Sorry. I not speak English too well." It is uncertain if he will be drafted.
