After the draft was said and done, we should switch our attention to free agents. We don¡¦t have enough money to sign some big time players such like Elton Brand, and Jermaine O'Neal, but we do have 4.9 m to sign a starter, someone like Lamar Odom. I heard something from a radio station, they said the Knicks prefer to go after Andre Miller, but what is the point, we already have 3 PG currently on the rosters, and there is another one waiting oversea. Even though we can buy out Charlie Ward¡¦s contract, but we still have 2 PG, the reason Milos Vujanic doesn¡¦t want to sign with the Knicks, because he is afraid that, he is not going to get enough playing time. If the Knicks do go after Andre Miller, Milos Vujanic will never be a Knicks. I think we should go after Lamar Odom, because he makes more sense to the Knicks. I know Odom has some off court problems, but I am willing to gamble on him. Odom is 6¡¦10¡¦¡¦, and he is taller than any starting five for the Knicks, he can play SF and SG. I don¡¦t want to see McDyess play for the Knicks, because I think he is not going to be the same player he was couple years ago, playing McDyess, would hurt the chance to develop Mike Sweetney. Knicks should try to bring Lampe to the NBA for the up coming season, but the chance is slim. If the Knicks do bring Lampe for the coming season and sign Odom, our starting five should looks like this.
C - Maciej Lampe (I prefer to put him at SF)
PF ¡V Mike Sweetney
SF ¡V Lamar Odom
SG ¡V Allan Houston
PG ¡V Latrell Sprewell

I don¡¦t think this is a championship team, but it gives me more reason to watch the Knicks play

even though the knicks picked up some centers in the draft.i still think there a project and are not ready to perform at the level of the nba until a yr or two.knicks should go after a starting center in Kandi or Nesterovic.knicks could package a trade with Thomas,Ward or Eisley for either center.then if it goes through, sign Miller.

I don’t like Kandi’s mental approach to the game at all…He has lethargic malcontent written all over him; NY would eat him up like his namesake. Now Miller, that’s the one. I even hold out a smidgen of hope for him since he has Utah ties. And you know how Laydown loses his mind over Utah guys.

Lamar Odom is a restricted free agent, meaning the Clippers can match any deal. The Clippers owner Donald Sterling is said to be a big fan of Odom & Elton Brand, so he would probably match any deal for those two within reason. Since we can only offer the MLE, they would probably match that because its a reasonable deal for somebody of his talent. Hopefully if Odom really wants to come "home" to NYC, he will sign a one year deal with the Clippers and become an unrestricted free agent next year at which time we can sign him outright.

Honestly, I dont know a single player in this league - no matter how bad they wanted to play for a certain team, that would take a 1 year deal, risk injury, in order to have a shot at being on a club they like better. Remember this is a business and the players are all set to cash in.

Who in the heck wants weedhead, injury-prone Odom????? He's vert talented but the downside on him is his health. He hasn't played consisently based on his health probelm. ALso, if we give him the 4.9mm exception, the clippers have the right to match. Knicks should wait to sign free-agents next yr where Kobe and Garnett will be available..

3 out of 5 positions probably won't happen. If the knicks can't get Maciej's contract probelm resolved, you'll be seeing him 2 yrs later. As for Spree at pg, C'mon man, spree can't play pg. As a matter of fact, he might be gone before the season starts and as for getting Odom, it's is a long shot. Unless the knicks pay Odom the 4.9mil over 6 to 7 yrs where the clippers won't match cause of it's longevity(7rs).

OK, let me clear this up. What I meant to say was that we don't have a good chance of signing Odom because he is a restricted free agent. We would have a better shot at him if he were unrestricted. Michael Olowokandi did it last year with the Clippers; signing the qualifying offer to become an unrestricted free agent.

Next season's lineup??

Ward, Eisley, Williams, Houston
Sprewell, Anderson
Thomas, Weatherspoon, Harrington, McDyess, Sweetney
Knight, Doleac, Vranes, maybe Lampe

Is it me or is this the same squad from last year? The difference maybe more scoring help from the bench from our rookies. It seems as if we really can't make any moves until next year.
