The problem with Isiah is this:
Now bear with me, I am in business school right now so I am looking at this from a technical perspective.
Zeke has taking gambles on most of the players he added to the roster.
When you take a risk you need to look at the expected value added in combination with the risk. If the expected value is positive, you make the deal.
Now it seems to me, Zeke has taken a bunch of risks on negative expected value prospects - hoping that with such large risk, the upside will be huge if things work out. He was probably thinking that if even one of these players turned into a superstar he would save the franchise.
Unfortunately when you fill a portfolio with negative expected value, thats usually what you end up with. Isiah did nothing to hedge his risk by taking solid contributers to surround his risky acquisitions - sure he took some decent draft picks but that was not enough to balance out the Marbury, JCraw, QRich, Curry and others that have not paid off.
