Do the Knicks even TRY to get him?!?! If they want him, they better try to free up some cap room now, otherwise it's just another Chris Webber deal like last year.

Do the Knicks need Kobe? HELL YEAH!!! Will they try to get them by doing something now? Hell no.

Unfortunately you answered your own question. When have the Knicks ever tried to acquire an exciting Superstar who could rock the balance of power in the NBA. History suggests the Knicks have their eye on another Laker talent: Mark Madson.

lol @ sebstar

well the knicks have some chance at kobe because we will have cap room (thomas, mcdyess, ward, knight are free agents... mcdyess alone carries 13M of cap room). but i think, as phil jackson said on espn, Kobe's announcement is way premature. he's sounding like a cry baby because his team didnt win this year. tons of positives can happen between now and the end of next season so god knows what's he yelling about. Personally I think the Lakers should take his bluff.

I'd go after TMAC instead.

TMAC is a free agent too?? Whoa, that changes things a bit. TMAC or Kobe?!?!?! Whoa!!! Tough choice.

playoff Experience or playoff desire? Hmm.....

What do you mean by that? Hey, Allan Houston and his retardly structured contract can only take us so far.

We might need a LITTLE help from outside the organization via free agency next year. It doesn't hurt to try. The Mets are still licking their wounds over A-Rod for not even getting in the game.

Might as well try, what have you got to lose?? The better question is: What do you have to gain? A three-time World Champion, an All-Star numerous times over and one heck of a player.

Let me dream for a second....

I'd just like to see either one of those come over and see if Non Chaney and the rest of the clueless management/coaching squad try to make either of them play SF so Allan Housless doesn't feel 'uncomfortable' playing out of position!

Here's another thing you can bet your life on: postas in here (and other forums) disregarding everything they know to be true (like salary cap) and proposing every possible sign-and-trade opinion under the sun.

"KT, Othella and Eisley for Kobe. Here's why they'll do it: KT gives LA the rebounding presence they need and can guard the KGs, Duncans and Webbers. Othella can replace Big Shot Horry and Eisley can compete with the elite point guards in the West since he played out there before" or something ridiculous like that!

When all's said and done... there is NO WAY Kobe Bryant ever leaves Los Angeles. This is a ploy, sending a message to the Lakers front office (to get their act together) and players to give as much as Kobe... 110%.

This is a very savvy move on Kobe's part. He obviously knows what he's doing.

You know what? I'm not so sure about that. Of course, NY will never see Kobe in a Knicks uni, but I wonder how much the "Kobe is only so good because of Shaq" comments bother that young man. Enough for him to do something foolish like 'try to get out of Shaq's shadow'?

I'd be surprised if he did leave, but not overly so. You know he's never going to go to a bad team or a rebuilding team, but... you never know. Only thing we DO know is NY has no chance at him. None, Zip, Zilch, Nada....

Yea, but we can dream, can't we?? That's what's Broadway is for. The lights, the hopes and dreams and the possibility of having a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM THIS DECADE!

But alas, my friend, unless by some stoke of Basketball God intervention, we will never see them in a Knick uni.

Realistically, who would you add to the Knicks? (Editor's note: Despite the way it sounds, this is just a question. There is no sarcasm implied here.) Name someone that in this reality they could get and that you would want to play for them, someone who would make a difference.

good question.

i don't see anyone that could make that big of a difference on the knicks...well anyone they could actually get but i see decent basketball players they can get to improve the team

2 years ago i made my mind up that the knicks should stop signing people and build a team thru the draft and play mediocre ball and let contracts end

but jeff mcginnis was someone i thought they should have tried to get along the way. andre miller is they can get him. last year i thought caron or nene were players they should have considered drafting. antonio daniels this year. jim jackson they should try but i don't think he will leave the kings
