Im' wondering if he could really coach. Since he has been in the coaching field he has had the benifit of having 2 (should be) hall of fame pgs running his team. Am I the only one who reconizes this.

At what point do you give a guy credit?

Phil Jackson always had HOF and 50 greatest but when he didn't he didn't look like such a Zen Master. I think you have to be very objective as to who's deserving of credit.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Kidd and who is the other one again? Paul is great, but lets not lose our heads by saying he is going to be in the HOF. He hasn't even been an All-Star yet for crying out loud

They have the best record in the west, Paul is already been metion in MVP talks, the only thing I credit Byron for is his Play book, and most of that is Riley's. Having a great PG gives a coach so much less to worry about. Paul has been in the nba what.....2 seasons, and is having a mvp year, and your saying it's to early to consider him a HOF. It's to early for him to be leading his team the way he is.
Put paul on the knicks, and Isiah looks like a coaching guru.

Part of being a great coach is having great players. By your standards what makes a good/great coach?

LOL.

Of course Byron is a good coach. By your account theres no good coaches that win championships, since to win a championship you need good if not great players.

He lost his Net team at their height after Kidd was thought to think he was not preparing his team well. His staff used to give him tapes of the game and they would usually not rewind it all the way so when he returned them they could see if he looked at them. It was thought he was not, and this prepping for the playoffs.

They guy is in first place for the first time and we are annointing him with coaching royalty???

Phil Jax got 9 rings, trust me there is genious there.

Byron might have increased his work ethic but his dismissal from NJ after two trips to finals by the respected Rod THorn speaks volumes.

And the Hornets for yeras were known as cheap so they picked up a NAME coach that they got on the cheap, and Byron got a good gig.

Isish sucks on his own merit.

Paul is only have the best season of any pg in the last 10 years, just because China dictates who starts in the allstar it doesn't mean the kid isn't an allstar

Paul 20.8pts 10.7ass 3.6rbs 2.6stls 48%fg

Scott is a good coach but he has one of the best defensive centers in the league, a pg that is playing out of his mind one of the most underated pf in the game in west and a solid outside threat in peja, they are a very well constructed team where everyone has defined roles.

I don't think byron should be mentioned in the same breath as jackson, but I think he is a good coach, even with talent and a lot of coaches had talented teams and did nothing, you have to have the ability to motivate and teach, I think scott is becomming a good one, and I think Terry porter was on his way too. I think the bucks prematurely dismissed him. Now look at the bucks...

Phil Jackson isn't all that much of a genius, Tex Winters is. The triangle system isn't even his Chit. Phil Jackson hasn't got out of the first round since losing a 50greatest players in their primes. Matter of fact certain players have looked underwhelming under his watch namely Caron Butler, Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom. Phil knows how to work his the system if he specifically has the correct roster for it. Phil can't coach any player. He's still a good coach because he can be a great motivator but he's been severely overrated.

I'm not sure Phil would be in my Top 3 of coaches in the game right now.

You understand that coaches get better at their trade with time, just like players do. What a coach was 3,4, 5 years ago is not what he is today.

Well when you have Michael Jordan, Kobe, Pippen, and Shaq that speaks for itself. Name a coach who's had that kind of compilation of caliber players during his coaching career. Red Arebauch?

Forget the fact I'm leaving off outstanding role players such as Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, Robert Horry, Toni Kucok, John Paxson, Craig Hodges, B.J. Armstrong, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Rick Fox. Just the role players alone blows our current roster to BUTT **** EGYPT!

I would love for the knicks to get a guy like Byron Scott.

Isiah needs to step down.....Kenny Smith is a dude that jumps at me. He is a very smart dude with his commentary. He says the right things.....he sounds like a coach. If he wants to coach he should get a shot.

Kenny's name keeps coming up a lot but first things first. Keeny needs to put in work as an assistant under a good coach. He needs to be groomed at least for 2yrs IMO. On the other hand I don't think it takes the same kind of apprentice work to be say an Assistant GM, Scout, Director Of Player Personnel. He might fit any those roles better right now.

What about Doc rivers?

People seem to like Mark Jackson to jump right into the fray also. I think Mark Jackson is a flaming retard. At least thats what i get from his interviews and commentary. He says some really stupid things on the air. Kenny is always on point and he's confident enough to keep Mike Breen in his place so thats a good sign.

An injury can derail his career and make him fall from grace faster than Jay Williams. It takes a player years of work, stats, awards, and narratives on his boday of work before they become HOF ready.
