seeing guys like Nate & D Lee improve is a very positive thing to come out of this season, no matter how crappy the team's record is, not only because their trade values are increasing & GM's are starting to take notice, but because there's a nice chemistry that's starting to form among certain members of this team that i think we can build on...
right now, i see 4 players that pretty much must be traded/waived at this point if we're ever to improve as a unit:
Curry Zach Marbury Q Rich
CURRY: obviously he's never going to be a defensive player & our weakness on our perimeter calls desperately for a shotblocking intimidator in the paint... we have to trade Curry & bring in a guy who can defend the paint... i'll bring up a trade idea i made several times last year... offer him to the Wizards for Etan Thomas & a 1st round pick... forget about what we gave up for him... what's done is done... we need to focus on the future & Curry doesn't seem like he's got a place considering what our current needs are.
ZACH: he's not been horrible, but the guy simply does not make enough of an appreciable contribution on offense to warrant having that cap killing contract on our books for the next 3 years... we need to cut bait on this guy & unload his contract by any means possible... if it means taking back some garbage players who have a year less left on their deals, then so be it... i think it's a joke that D Lee isn't starting games for us by now... the guy clearly has the talent to be a legit starter in this league.
MARBURY: hopefully we've all seen the last of him, but who the hell knows w/Isiah & Marbury... he could come back next season & make a whole buncha ridiculous claims that he's gonna be the old Starbury again like he always does & we'll be right back where we started to begin this season... i think the team clearly plays w/a different energy when Marbs is not around... he needs to stay the hell away & just stay home & collect the rest of his money next season, unless by some miracle Isiah can find some sucker to take him off our hands for someone not named Darius Miles or Troy Murphy.
Q RICH: having him here severely hampers the growth of guys like Balkman & Chandler... he's a decent role player off the bench but for some reason Isiah sees him as a starter, so for that reason he has to go... we gotta have Balkman & Chandler seeing minutes at the SF position to see what they can do & figure out if we need to upgrade at that position going forward or not.
take those 4 players off the roster, & i think the remaining guys make for a more balanced, more unified & more fun to watch team, even if they're not necessarily as talented... hopefully u can address upgrades at the C & SF positions during the offseason via MLE signing or w/the draft pick.
C - Lottery pick (Thabeet?) / Morris / Turd PF - D Lee / Jefferies / Malik SF - Balkman / Chandler SG - MLE free agent (Vujacic?) / Mardy PG - Jamal / Nate

After watching this last game, I think we should get rid of everyone but Craw and the players that Isiah has drafted.
eventually yeah, that would be the ideal goal for me too, but i think those 4 i mentioned are priorities... we gotta get those guys out & open the way for the young guys to get the playing time they need to grow together & improve as a unit.

Curry is putting on a Marbury/steve Francis type front. He can only play a certain way. He doesn't want to play any different that he is. He's a detriment to this team.
Can Isiah trade him? Probably so but he has to take one in the nuts and get way less than he gave.
He's got to see what he has for what it is and just go with it. The Knicks behind Nate, Lee, Balkman and Craw are a fast breaking team. Zach can still provide inside scoring and Nate and craw can make their team better with their passing in the half court.
The heart and soul of this team has always been Crawford with Nate, David and Balkman following suiit.....its high time Isiah woke up and stopped denying it.

I agree except for Zach. IF you get rid of curry and add a defensive C who can rebound and block shots, having a guy like Zach is a good thing. Lee is talented, but he is not the scorer that Zach is and he is not that much of a better defender. I would rather have lee back up the Pf/C spots and keep Zach. I agree with getting rid of Curry, Q, and Marbury. If we could package Curry with Q or Jeffries, that would go along way toward getting our cap together.

The knicks have bench players as starters, who care who we trade or keep.
blow it up already! lets go for the #1 pick overall.

Zach I think would be a lot better without Curry around. I'm not sure you move Zach just yet if you can move Curry.
Marbs is as good as gone from the memory
QRich...you can't really move him. You can play him less and just hope he gets better. He doesn't kill chemistry by being around- its just by being on the court too much when he can't hit a shot.
Curry just has to go. It's not gonna work if he can't score here.

I think we would have been in a better position with Fyre and buying out Francis instead of taking on Zach. Marbury, should never put on a Knick jersey ever. Curry, he's like the doughboy and Q-miss just blows. Yeah I agree with your post.

Can't play Lee with a only defensive center. Lee needs to play with a Bogut or a Darko at the very least. A guy that can shoot and post up.
i disagree... D Lee can play well in any system alongside any types of players, he's just that type of player... he gets all his points off offensive putbacks & transition... it doesn't take a low post beast for D Lee to produce alongside him... it's more vital to address our need in the frontcourt defensively because D Lee is a horrible defender down low.

You are not going to be any better with an offense that is 3 on 5. Lee is not very good offensively, so he does need to play with a player that is able to do more then put backs and tip dunks. A guy that could hit a jump shot would be the least a Front with Lee would need. A guy like Bogut or Darko.

my plan is to sign a shooter w/the MLE & use the draft pick on the best shotblocker we can find... i think that opens up the offense & brings in someone who can make up for some of our obvious deficiencies defending the paint... D Lee will get his points & his rebounds regardless of who he's playing alongside in the frontcourt... yes, it would be nice to have a low post scorer who can also pass out of the post, play D & block shots but how do u propose we get our hands on a Bogut or Darko w/o giving up any of our youth?
