Wilkins lost his starting job to rookie Jeff Green, as the Sonics are in full rebuilding mode and want to evaluate their young guys. That doesn't do much for vets like Wilkins, though, who is Seattle's best defender. "It’s real frustrating to go from starting to not even really being in the rotation," Wilkins said. "I mean, I played five seconds against the Lakers. It’s 10 minutes one game, then five seconds another game, and that’s frustrating."Yahoo Player

Incoming Players
Damien Wilkins
6-6 SG / SF
9.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 25.7 minutes

Outgoing Players
Fred Jones
6-2 SG
5.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.3 apg in 24.0 minutes

Obviously, Seattle is going in a different direction. Wilkins is only 28(Just turned Jan 11). He can man the one SG or SF spot at 6-6. Is also a defender. I'd do it, even if it is trading an expiring.

I didn't even realize this but you could actually expand this deal to include Wally....

Wally Szczerbiak
6-7 SF / SG

Quentin Richardson

i'd probably do it, but i don't see why SEA makes that deal if they're looking for cap space going forward tho... Wally's deal comes off their books after next season while Q's lasts for another 2 years... Wilkins is making very reasonable dollars for the production he brings also & they'd have to pay out Balkman or lose him in another 2 years also.

why aren't we simply playing Chandler this season before deciding what to do w/the SF position? i just can't get it... the season's over & we're not making any playoffs... freakin' Isiah needs to wake TFU already & come to his senses... play the kids!!!

Joe I think the first trade is something they would especially with Uncle Freddie's expiring contract.

I like wilkens a lot, but why don't we just do the same thing seattle is and play chandler?

At least seattle recognizes what they are... A lottery team. the knicks have yet to figure that one out...

Isiah has been sent to NY to demoralize nyknicks fans for as long as possible.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I agree I really want to see Chandler play too. I also think that we have to make a decision on him and Balkman, which to keep. The second trade is definately a stretch, but the first trade is definitely something I would do.

Yeah, I gotta agree with this.... the trade would do nothing more than ruin Wilkens' development as he sat on the bench watching Jeffries fire up 3 pointers.

exactly. I think chandler can play, but he is rotting on the bench as isiah tries to steal victories to save his job.. again, when a coach is having to coach to save his job, it never seems to serve the teams best interest long term.....heck , not even in the interim in most cases..

No more trade. Just stick with what we have and play the young ones.
