Worst thing about the season so far?

Abbott: Remember how the NBA was going to be totally transparent in telling us what went wrong with the referees?

Adande: The Knicks. Nothing has changed about them -- still bad, still have a bloated payroll, still run by Isiah Thomas -- and yet they take a disproportionate share of the news for a team that really doesn't matter. They're not even historically bad.

Remember when a few news outlets imposed a Britney blackout? Can we do the same for the Knicks until they do something radically different?

Broussard: Very sad to see Andrew Bynum go down for two months with a knee injury. The Lakers looked to be headed for a special season; now they may have to wait until next year.

Knicks' drama has become sordid and sad, turning that hallowed franchise not into a laughingstock but a nightmare.

I'm also disappointed in the play of Toronto's Andrea Bargnani. I expected him to emerge into a star (or near star) this season.

Bucher: Watching the Heat free-falling and the wind sheer diminishing the reputations of Shaq and Pat Riley, if not Dwyane Wade too, is depressing.

As is the excessive attention given the Knicks, since there's no mystery as to why they're so bad, nor any hope they'll be better soon.

Hollinger: Last year's lottery picks. Three have broken out -- Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Rudy Gay -- but the rest of them haven't done jack.

Tyrus Thomas and Andrea Bargnani are struggling, Randy Foye and Adam Morrison haven't played, and the others (Shelden Wililams, Patrick O'Bryant, Mouhamad Sene, Hilton Armstrong and Thabo Sefolosha) might be joining my man Sheridan in Boise before long.

Sheridan: Bearing personal witness to some two dozen Knicks games and watching the nearly decade-long slide of one of the league's charter franchises get worse and worse. On most nights, it's unbelievably depressing inside Madison Square Garden.

Stein: The ongoing suckitude of the East is highly annoying and something I can't let go of just because there are two elite teams at the top. But what's happened to Miami is just sad. The collapse from champion to punching bag has been too swift and steep for even Heat Haters to enjoy. Shaq can't be going out like this.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

hey, a lot of us did also... These guys want something good to write about, you can see it in the papers after every win. Even the biggest knick detractor could not forsee things being this damn bad.. even I have to admit, that is horrific. Not just the record, but the atmosphere, the negative vibe is almost beyond repair..

The Knicks have been a joke, granted, but it is amazing to me how the Knicks continue to be the top story (in terms of struggling teams) when the Miami Heat, former champs and a team with two possible hall of famers continue to get a pass.

Only one mention of their horrendous season? You gotta be kidding me. They have been way more disappointing than the Knicks. Its not even close!

Well, the media likes Pat Riley, Dwyane Wade and Shaq.

Well, we're in a huge market, we're a flagship team, and it's big news no matter what is going on.

Something I don't understand in some of the Knick fan base is why some fans get upset because the Knicks get negative coverage.

As in, and I've seen it mentioned plenty of times:

"Well, McHale sucks but only Isiah gets hammered. Why?"

"Well, the Heat stink but only the Knicks get negative attention. Why?"

"Well, ____ of the _____ doesn't play defense either so why does Curry get attacked over it?"

So on...and so forth...

Again, two answers as to why:

* We're a flagship franchise in the heart of the largest US city and largest media empire.

* We're Knick fans, following the Knicks, reading NY area media reports on the Knicks - why should we hear about the Bucks or McHale?

What do you guys want Vecsey and Berman to do? Write big long winded articles on how McHale and Milwaukee suck and leave some blurb at the end of the articles "GO KNICKS!"

!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That's not their freakin' job. Their job is to cover the Knicks and not for nothing - the articles are going to be negative when the team stinks worse than it ever has in DECADES!!!!

You're upset over media coverage and scrutiny? Well, be angry at Dolan, Isiah, and his CLOWNS on the court!

It's hardly the media's fault and they should hardly be held to MSG's media policy of the sun is shining, the flower are blooming, and hey leave us alone cause the Bucks suck and McHale is a terrible GM!

To finish, I DONT GIVE A FUCK THAT THE HEAT OR BUCKS STINK!!!! I CARE THAT THE KNICKS STINK!!! THE HEAT STINKING IS NO REASON TO NOT BE UPSET THAT MY FAVORITE TEAM STINKS!!!!!!!!

Bigbeast may have been referring to when we get covered on ESPN, shows like ATH and PTI. Once again what do we expect. I agree with everything you said Cosmic and this franchise gives the media a reason or three. Like having MSG security go UFC on them in the arena, sexual harassment trial, player going AWOL, coach making outlandish statements about his perception of the team, David Stern assessing our situation, sideline scuffles and arguments during games between player and coaches etc etc etc.

that should have been the biggest indictment of our team. The commissioner, taking shots at this team. Wow, and the thing is, dolan seems to be unfazed by the matter... They should run the league like prop joe and those cats do on the show "the wire". run it like a co-op, and if some rogue owner like dolan is messing up the co-op, then he may find himself in one of those building, courtesy of chris and snoop..... LOL..

BS- Vescey is always making up stuff (as most of these sportswriters) about who is going to trade whom. How soon we forget the summer- when 99 percent of these writers bacsically make stuff up about trades and none of them happened. Every single writer from Vescey onwards were like KG to Phoenix or La. The KG will 'never' fo to Boston. Blah blah blah. They continually make up stuff -with sources that are 'inside' the organization - who is that the janitor/the secretary-- puh-lease - these guys get way to much cred- and the only cred they get is from each other.

What has Isola done thats so spectacular as a writer? These gus are like the talking heads at CNBC - everything is a 'goldilocks' economy, we just need to listen to them (none of them has ever had any experience in anything) except puching a keyboard.

We are all supposed to forget the thousands of times they are wrong, or do suck up interviews that mean nothing or jump on the Eli is the greatest QB ever in NYC (after trumpeting Chad Pennington for half -a decade). The they assign themselves 'value' - for what - you guys are hack writers that make up a lot of stuff to entertain the masses- especially considering how low the quality of mass media has become these days.

I rarely see serious analysis- and then - you get guys who atually 'make' stuff up- like PER/TS% etc - with no scientific foundation - rather they copied the whole thing from Billy Bean metrics (baseball) and want to give themselves 'credit' for being geniuses (do you know Hollinger claims to have an IQ of 251 - talk about pathological liar)- just like Cramer on CNCBC- claim to fame - stealing urban vernacular like 'booyah'.
