Ok, so at the Wiz game yesterday a few things happened that made me go, why is the coaching staff not doing something?
The first one has to do with something I've defended...
Z-Bo's yapping to the refs.
At one point he thought he was fouled, and while coming back on D was talking to the refs.
He was going back on D, but in the process he went to a spot on the low block to defend, but his man was out on the wing...
The Wiz got the player the ball (can't remember who) and he drove all the way to the bucket and scored.
I was like someone has to respecfully tell Zach, "Yo Zach, I know talking to the refs is important so they get you calls, and it looked like you were fouled, but let's try to wait for a stoppage of play, or tell me (as coach) and I'll talk to the refs. I think when you did that earlier you might have lost track of your man for a sec and he got a bucket. This way we can still let the refs know what's up but not risk giving up a bucket. I know it's irritating to not get a good call, but we can work together to get them to listen."
Does anyone say this to Zach? For some reason I doubt it.
Another thing was about Eddy not blocking his man out on the boards. With his size he could get more rebounds, and we've seen it. Don't the Knicks have enough coaches and money to work on blocking out with their starting center who is 300lbs!?? If not, get Oakley or Ewing in here and have them TEACH Eddy how to do it. This is just driving me crazy to see teams who pay coaches millions of dollars, but can't teach basic fundamentals of the game with players who might excel in that area.
So again...this has got to be a combination of coaching and players, but I think most people will listen if you address it in a respectful way.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...
