Do you guys think that having both position takes away from your focusing on just coaching? I have never ever seen a coach/GM win cocnsistantly or have any real success. Riley and mike Holmgren come to mind when i think about it.

I don't think it's a good idea in this day and age.

I thought the whole point was for Isiah to prove that he could win with the team he put together - to prove to Dolan that the problem in 05-06 was that Larry Brown was sabotoging the team, and not that the team Isiah Thomas had put together didn't mesh.

This was proved to Dolan's satisfaction late last season, hence the contract extension. It's been all downhill since then.

I think the Isiah experiment should be over. The experiment has failed. Time to go with a tried-and-true methodology, IMO.

I don't think keeping Isiah on as GM is a good idea either, as he has never been able to get along with a single coach who has had the misfortune to try to coach the Knicks during his tenure.

https:// It's not so hard.

It is a good idea - you get money for 2 people.
Isiah actually get money of 100 decent people.
