Here in an interesting idea...what if Detroit picked Anthony over Milicic...I know Milicic is supposedly going to be great, but Anthony seems like the true #1 pick in theis draft. I even thing he will end up being more solid then Lebron. People seem to be afraid to say anything bad about Lebron but the kid is coming from High School and is hyped as the next Jordan...recipe for disaster. Although he may be good someday he wont be right away - and everyone seems to think its a gurantee he will be great - nothing is guranteed...

Probably wont happen but it would be interesting.

Oasis, that would be a huge shock but one that might shake things up early.

Anyone read the Bill Daughtery column linked by this website? He has as one of the rumors: Allan Houston to Houston for Mobley, Griffin and Rice.

WHOA!!! Houston has been speculated to be traded too?!?! Getting rod of Allan is a better idea than getting rid of Spree. Though the Toronto/NY trade is something else he speculates on, both of those trades would CHANGE the Knicks forever....and for the better I think.

I read a similar article on MSG web site, that deal as they mentioned would take more guts than layden has. getting rid of both spree and Houston!!!! The new team would be young, and athletic and more cap friendly but Layden would not do that. He is hung up on our so called "CORE" that core being Houston, Dice, KT. Layden has to save his job now not build a good team for the future..

This marks NY's biggest problem!!

Anyone read the Bill Daughtery column linked by this website?

From said article:

"Envision an opening night starting lineup of Alvin Williams and Mobley at guard, Jerome Williams and Griffin at forward with Kurt Thomas in the middle."

I tried to envision it, but I almost gagged, so I stopped. What is that, the all-weakstuff-role-player team?! That's almost as bad as the all-point-guard team!

Dear Bill Daughtry,

I've only been able to obtain midshelf product, producing only a mildly enjoyable buzz and a temporary catatonic state. What I really want is to lose touch will all reality and drift into a waking coma. I need some serious chronic, dude. After reading your article on the draft, I though you could hook me up. Thanks, B.

In case Bill D. missed it, Layden's job is on the line. If the team is not better this year (meaning PLAYOFFS), he is fired. Why would he put together a transitional role-player squad as his last ditch effort?!

No, he's going to keep Houston unless we get one of the premier players in the league for him. Why do you think he gave Allan that contract? He considers Houston on par with TMac. Really, he does. Ask him.

He keeps Houston. He prays for McDyess to come back like a Super Saiyan (always stronger after being hurt). He dumps his nemesis Spree, dumps Ward's contract, gets a starter at SF and at C, a backup PG, keeps either Othella or Kurt and he's done. Just enough to push them into 8th seed. Barely.

Excited yet?

Right... the people that think somehow we're going to land Lampe (a player who'll take time to develop) should read the above observation.

I say the Knicks should look into trading #9 and maybe their 2nd second round pick to the Sonics for #11 and #14. Then we would have better choices...Kaman is no savior so he really isnt worth the #9 pick - who cares ifhe is 7ft I just dont see him being that great. This team does need size but the question is, will they let any of their picks play? If you are going to pick Kaman you have to start him at the 5 and let him grow. No more of this riding the bench stuff, it has gotten us nowhere. But with picks 11 and 14 they can pick some solid players and they would be getting only 2 picks after 9 but much further ahead then the last 2nd rounder. I dunno, it seems to make sense to me.

The three names I am hearing for the Knicks are Ford, Lampe, and Kaman. If Hinrich is there he is who I want. The dark horse is Jarvis Hayes... who could start immediately if Spree is dealt. There could be a trade with Seattle... they want Hinrich at #5... if he's there at #9 (with Ford gone) the knicks may actually do something like that. In the end I think we come away with Kaman or Ford.

Rain, are you kidding? We have three point guards under contract and you want Kirk Hinrich? He couldn't make the YMCA club on 92nd street.

How bout this, Knicks trade 9th pick to the Warriors for the 11th pick and Adonal Foyle... then we take Collison with the 11th pick.

To those who want Kaman: The funniest thing I read today was Berman's article describing Kaman as "high maintenance" and "arrogant" but the best was (to paraphrase) after his workout, he needed two huge bags of ice for both knees like Patrick Ewing in the later stages of his career... excited

Pike, when I read that this morning ("high maintenance" and "arrogant") the next two words that came to mind were "Ryan Leaf".

Less than six hours 'til boo time!

If we take Hinrich.... we can package Spree and Vujanic and get a big guy. I think Hinrich is the BPA at #9. Lampe is intriguing, but he won't get minutes for two years. Then after three years we'll have to resign him to a bigger contract. If we are confident we can trade Spreewell... then Jarvis Hayes/Pietrus makes alot of sense. Hinrich can play defense and share the ball.

Want Kaman less and less as every moment passes by (and I didn't want him to begin with)... don't want Hinrich... would shoot myself if we trade up for T.J. Ford... Sweetney's size concerns me... no way Layden will put the franchise first over his personal agenda (saving his job) to pick Lampe... so, if we can't trade up to land Bosh... I say trade down 9th for Warriors 11th and Foyle... then take Collison... or further down and take Baby Shaq.

Pike I agree with you. If we trade up for Ford, I will never forgive this franchise, Sweetney is looking more like Othella to me, as I have stated many times before.. The warrior trade looks good, because as you mentioned layden would not put the welfare of the team above his own job security..

sigh.....

Also, would consider dealing 30th and change to move up a bit to grab Troy Bell... who might go 26th to the Timberwolves.
