Stephon Marbury rips Isiah Thomas' scheme, no longer a 'scoring guard'

BY IAN BEGLEY
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Saturday, January 12th 2008, 4:00 AM

Stephon Marbury revealed Friday night that he is struggling to adjust to his new role in Isiah Thomas' offense, suggesting that for the money the Knicks are giving him, they should expect more out of him.

"I didn't get paid the money I got paid to do what I'm doing now," said Marbury, who is the NBA's fourth-highest paid player at $20.1 million. "I got paid to be a scoring guard. ... Now I'm playing more of a passive role."

Marbury finished with 13points, eight assists and four rebounds in last night's 99-90 loss to Toronto. Thomas has designed the offense to feature Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford.

Friday night, Randolph was held scoreless and Curry had just six points. Crawford scored 27.

"It's not working out right now," Marbury said of Curry being the centerpiece.

This is F'ing funny. The prized aquisitions Isiah made are now bitching about their roles. All freaking 3 of them. Crawford bitches too when he goes on the bench, but at least he gives it his all. So does Marbury, but we know what's up with him and he goes through these stints.

Meanwhile, Nate Robinson gets trashed and called a clown, yet his role is so up and down sometimes and he just goes in and does whatever the hell the coach says and plays his heart out. Same with David Lee. 2 very flawed players, but 2 good role models.

Guys like Balkman, Lee and Nate only play hard on this knicks team to get paid when there time comes, they know how zeke over pays players.

Marbury Z-BO, Curry, Crawford,QRich, Jeffries, Jerome James etc... already got paid and really don't have to put out for Isiah.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I am sure it can be arranged for him to get paid less money along with a lesser role on the team, if it comforts him.

He forgets himself. His salary is not determinative of his worth. His worth shows up on the scoreboard and in the team huddle. Lately, he seems worthless.
You know I gonna spin wit it

Sadly, I think he is right. He had been a nice scorer (and even a good passer) for many years until Larry Brown came here, and tought it was a cool idea to not use the only thing this player was good at. Then Isiah thought it was a great idea to keep doing so, and here we have a 20 million scoring PG not scoring while continuing beind bad in the remaining aspects of the game and getting about the same mpg. Its just one of the many terrible things done here since Isiah arrived.
Im waiting till I see someone telling Ben Wallace that he has to take it easy on defense and concentrate on jumpshots. That has to be a thing of beauty.

The team smells blood...

Pretty much.

It's like Isiah just went around the league with a trash can, collected every team's trash players and trash contracts, dumped the heap of trash on the court and handed them Knicks uniforms.

Instead of just realizing it's garbage and throwing it away (buying out Marbury, James, etc), he's become the kid who doesn't bathe but sprays Axe all over himself (Randolph, Curry), smelling extra sh!tty for no reason. And now he's mad at everyone else like it's their fault he smells like a pissy staircase, corn chips, feet and ass.

Someone could probably sell him the Brooklyn Bridge if they told him it's been in a few movies.

All that fat flopping up and down a basketball court usually does have a stench.

Isiah not only put together probably the most odd ball team, but has successfully pissed them off. He's finished!
I'll never trust this' team again.
