But last night, Thomas sounded like a coach who knows that his time is running short. Thomas compared himself to the construction worker who lays the foundation to a house for someone else to live in.

"When you move into your house, the guy who poured the concrete never really gets a chance to live in that beautiful house that he built," Thomas said. "Our job right now is to make sure that we lay the concrete and that we lay it correctly."
Come on Zeke, let it go! You did a bad job in NY. Stop trying to make up ****.

Isiah getting ejected for shoulder brushing the ref is a sign that he wants out.
The no call was not that big of a deal as we saw those calls in last nights game against the raptors and he still had time to coach the Knicks back into it .

He is saying crazy things, doing crazy things and distancing his players and fans. He is a pit bull with his neck ripped, a horse with a broken leg and a fish with damaged gills.

He is out of character and that cool calm collected ZEKE has gone away. He must be sleeping on the couch at home .

Emotionally he is fired!

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I Don't know. That article only seemed to suggest that Dolan was going to make a coaching change. If he makes ONLY a coaching change then that would really piss me off. But I agree with the article that it's unlikely that Dolan still keeps him as team president, but I wouldn't put it past Dolan.

OTOH, the guy who digs the grave should be allowed to dump the dirt on the corpse.

Dolan doesn't cut you off half way. If he does decide to let Isiah stay as GM it'll only be to work off some of that $24mil until he can think of the messiest, nastiest, most drawn out and embarrassing (for all parties involved) way to get rid of him completely.

Maybe he'll pay Anucha to go into Isiah's office dressed in nothing but lingerie equipped with a hidden camera......

I'll believe it when I see it but it sure does seem like things are starting to roll.

You've got Isiah saying he only likes 3 of the players he brought in.
We're 9-26.
Zach, Q, and Marbury are criticizing Isiah.
Isiah wants off the bench. Dolan seems to finally realize he has to remove him.

The two worst things are

1) waiting for it to happen - why would it matter doing it today or doing it in March?
2) hoping that Isiah isn't allowed to just resume being the GM for he will just make more disasterous trades.

He just has to be fired out-right. Or, at the very least, removed from all duties and just re-assigned to something useless such as director of player personnel where he still has a title but does nothing but sit at home until Dolan finds a way to buy him out and save some of that ridiculous extension money.

My screen name might take place. I called it 2 years ago and now we are the worst team in the league. Please god let this happen.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

falcons owner arthur blank got up in front of the media when patrino quit and said, he does not blame his GM , rich mckay for what happened. But Blank knew that Mckay has made spotty draft picks, and acquisitions and he gave vick that huge deal, the largest in NFL history, to have it blow up in their face. Blank then turns around and tries to hire parcels and move Mckay to a different position, non-football operation related...

Blank understands ultimately someone has to be held accountable, dolan needs to do the same, move Isiah somewhere else where he can utilize his carsalesman like charm. Marketing, promotions, or even head of scouting, but keep him away from coaching and basketball decisions... His time is done...

When and how did he say that?

Isiah should be slammed if he indeed did say that he only likes 3 of the players he brought in!!! It's his team! I've supported this guy for all these years and i've given him the benefit of the doubt on his moves. This year i've hated the work he's done. He's acted like a coward and has tried to shift the blame. Then he's put on all this bravado and basically said that he doesn't need to change the players, but only needs time, so if this is true that he said he only likes 3 of the players, then he needs to go immediately.

It's not the players fault that he didn't add the players needed to make this team work. He had a chance to add more perimeter shooting, a shotblocker/rebounder and even PG help. When he didn't get those players, he said that he would make it work with the players he's acquired. So now that the worst fears of why Zach and Curry may not work have been realized he's gonna try and lay this at their feet. Zach is right!!! Isiah is the one who brought him here. He's just being who he always was, you can't blame him for being who and what he is. If you bring in a guy like him, then you better have a darn good idea of how you're going to use him. It's apparent that Isiah never had a clue how he would use him.

I never thought Isiah was a great GM or Coach, but I was dead wrong about him. He's not even a decent GM or Coach. I was with him on the idea of Lee, Nate, Balkman, Mardy and Chandler. I think those guys have the kind of athletic ability and enough defensive skills to be useful to this team as role players. The thing is that they aren't superstars, so you can't kill them for not being able to lead this team to wins by themselves. It's Isiah's job to find the player or players who can lead this team and help it to win. So it's time for him to go. He's making things worse now, so Dolan has to stop the bleeding.

If Isiah just gets "fired" from his coaching position, that's not nearly good enough. I want it all.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Get in line behind me. I called it 1 second after they announced Isiah as Team President and General Manager of the Knicks.

It's long overdue. I see it now. The team is lost. I am not convinced it is all Isiah's fault however. I think there is a culture of LOSER MENTALITY at the Garden and I blame DOLAN for that. If a Mullin or Colangelo or West can come in here and change it, maybe I will change my mind. Dolan needs to hire one of those guys and then get the hell out of the way!!

ISIAH READY TO BOLT BENCH?
By MARC BERMAN

January 12, 2008 -- Despite Monday's defiant remarks that he has no plans to leave the Knick bench, Isiah Thomas actually vented in a conversation to a friend a day later that he is indeed considering stepping away from coaching to concentrate on the team presidency, according to a source.

In the conversation following Tuesday's win in Chicago, Thomas complained the club's biggest problem is that several players enter games thinking the team will lose.

According to the source, Thomas vented that he has never been a quitter - but that he is close to the breaking point.

If a coaching-only change is made, it ultimately is owner James Dolan's decision, not Thomas'.

Dolan might be reluctant to hire a new coach midseason or pay Herb Williams or Mark Aguirre for a promotion to interim coach, unless Thomas begs.

The other scenario is if Thomas leaves the bench, he leaves the organization.

The Post reported in late November that Warrior GM Chris Mullin was asked informally during Golden State's visit to the Garden about potential interest. Raptor GM Bryant Colangelo, in the house last night, would be much-sought, as would his father, Team USA president Jerry Colangelo.

It's unclear if Dolan and Thomas have discussed Thomas leaving the bench for the front office.

In Thomas' conversation with his friend, according to the source, Thomas named only three players whom he likes - David Lee , Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford .

Thomas made his most cryptic remark yet before last night's game when asked if a loser's mentality has crept into the locker room.

"We need to build a culture, a foundation," Thomas said. "I told them we're the concrete layers, we're the cement layers. When you move into your house, the guy who poured the concrete never really gets the chance to live in the beautiful house that he built. Our job right now is to make sure we lay the concrete and lay it correctly."

this needs to happen with enough time for a potential successor to come in and possibly off load some garbage before the deadline- Crawford has value- get an ending contract and a pick.
