Knicks' legend Willis Reed said yesterday it's too early to split the so-far failing Eddy Curry-Zach Randolph tandem.

"If I had Curry and Zach on my team, I wouldn't give up on them yet," Reed told The Post after appearing at the NBA Store yesterday to promote the NBA's new partnership with Kia. "I love Zach. I was happy the Knicks were able to acquire him. I'd walk in the room and say, guys, don't give up on yourselves. Eventually it will come. I would tell them to stop the reading the papers. Eddy is a very talented playe,r and I hope he doesn't get discouraged."

Sounds like Reed really likes Zach. Is he sending a subliminal message to Curry to stop acting like a Diva?

I love Willis but he's just trying to be professional. What is he gonna say? Knicks suck ass and Isiah should be fired? Nobody would say that in public.

Everybody MUST say it in public... to continue be a professionals.

Well if he did say it, people would give him props for saying it. that's the problem! We need someone to come out and say it. a former knicks legend

Willis Reed has to lose some credibility for saying this.

I think what Reed is really saying is "no more trades till we get a new coach and GM."

Willis knows how to play the media game. He was a player and executive here long enough.

Say what everyone wants him to say and it becomes backpage fodder for a week. "Knicks Legend Reed Wants Isiah Out" with Berman running to his boo Steph and every other player in the locker room who probably doesn't even know Willis used to work there and asking their unnecessary and irrelevant opinions on Reed's comments, Isola reminding us that Reed wants Isiah gone and rehashing the entire conversation in every article, Isiah making some stupid comment about houses and foundations when asked about Reed (who already built the foundation, btw) etc. and Willis becoming another participant in the sideshow.

Say what they don't want to hear and the story gets a one day run and dies. While he very well may believe Curry and Randolph could work, he gets to go back to Ruston in peace without being a part of this nonsense.

Plus we've got Cal Ramsey and John Starks front and center almost every day keeping it real with the only people that matter - not the media - but Dolan and Mills themselves.
