Like I said before Tom Thibeadeu

Let him implement a system with the exsisting players here so we see what we have. We can compensate the Celtics with 1mm$ or a 2013top 15 protected #1 pick and on.
Once a new exsisting system is in place--we can go about the business of acquiring players who can fit the system down the road.

Isiah Thomas can say whatever he wants about 4 guards and a SF at C--that isnt winning crp. The Celtics are winning because of DEFENSE first mentality---so are the Pistons The Spurs The Mavericks and that is why the Suns have been beaten out of the playoffs when it counted.

Once we have a solid defensive deterant--we will be able to lower the margin needed to win games---it will keep us in games. The key is we will need a couple of guys who can get us closse to 20 points sprinkled in with 7-8 specific two way players. That means one of Curry or Randolph would have to go. I see an avenue where we can acquire a C as a defensive deterant using Crawford and Randolph as the scorers[atleast for now] and some other key pieces.

It would also prevent those lovable 20-point deficits we seem to be getting into far too often.

haven't we pretty much exhausted all the potential ways to get some positive results out of this current squad from a coaching standpoint?

These players assembled aren't mentally tuff enough to play defense for 48 minutes at 82 games plus.

Mental migets must play on good teams and come off the bench. When they come into a game their play won't represent the ability of a good team.

briggs- phoenix actually plays really good defense - its just their undersized like our 37 win squad was back with sprewell as the SF & KT as our center.

Agreed- UK needs an auto lock thread for threads that posit fixes for this squad that aren't complete blow ups...

A defensive coach will do nothing if you dont have any decent defensive players on the whole roster.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

I would argue that we have three defnsive players that would be stoppers for a playoff team. Balkman, Chandler, and Mardy. Q, and JJ are good depending on what position they are defending.

You can assemble a decent defensive team with this roster.

For whatever reason, Balkman, Chandler and Mardy are not playing while we get blown out of games. At the end of last season we were throwing out lineups featuring Mardy and Balkman, and lo and behold, we played good basketball.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Really, until you get rid of Curry, this team can never be a good defensive team. Curry has the worst defensive instincts I have ever seen from a center. He cannot anticipate anything and is always a step late on his rotations. The troubling thing is that I think he is actually trying, but he just cannot grasp basic defensive principles and has no defensive instincts. Until we get a better center or at least, a defensive PF, this team is not going to be capable of being a solid defensive unit. The only way to mask Curry's deficiences is to start Collins and Blakman. Those two, along with Q, should be able to cut down the penetration enough to mask Curry's inability to rotate on defense. The obvious problem is that such a lineup would have trouble scoring. So really there is no solution other than to get different players.

the quickest way to improve this team is like TheGame just said, bring in a defensive front court shotblocker who can cover for the defensive deficiencies of our current starters.

u can even keep Curry or Zach & still make it work, but not both... 1 of them has to go & needs to be replaced by someone who can guard the paint... once u do that, u can start tweaking the rest of the holes on this team by bringing in a SF who can shoot the rock & a PG who can lead this team & guard the perimeter.

we GOTTA get this roster balanced out if we want to improve in any way.

I agree that the Knicks are just a good defensive scheme away from playing better defensively. There whole roster is full of guys who look like there stuck in cement. Except for Balkman and Chandler, no one on the Knicks can front there man. None of them even get the consept of help defense. They don't even get a hand in the face of the shooter. This team is pathetic.

I thought it would be to put C4 in the team' bus. So we could have a draft where we take a player from each team like the BobCats in their first year and an automatic top 2 pick.

I'd agree, but given that Don Chaney got the nod over him doesn't bode well for our chances of hiring him as a head coach. If he'd want to come, I'm completely on board and have said the same thing (At least on RealGM). I know JVG constantly sings this guys praises.

LOL..... yea, we had two hall of fame coaches and a Hall of fame player(isiah) coach this team, with results that seem to get worse with each coach... At some point, we have to look at the players, that time has come, actually came long ago... time to take C-4 to this thing and hit the switch... Kaboooooooooooooom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No.
No way do you give up a #1 pick for an unproven coach.#1 picks are like gold. You can't keep giving them away. You also can't hire a coach before you get a new GM. Hire a GM , let him pick a new coach and go from there. At this point I don't care about the fastest way I care about the BEST way.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate
