Zach Randolph and a cap filler for Jermaine O'neal if it were a possibility?I've been a big advocate of Zach Randolph. (Still think he is a beast) But, It sounds like he does not want to be here. In which case I say adios!!!

I still don't think that he is our only problem... Curry is still inconsistent, but its obvious the two cannot play together effectively. Not to mention our lack of leadership and heady basketball players. Jermaine O'neal is often injury plagued, but he loves Isiah and has 1 yr less of a deal remaining then Zach and might be better suited to play with Eddy. Also think, he could be a leader in the locker room... He isn't afraid to challenge his teams play, we could use someone like him.

Assuming, Indiana would be on board with such a deal.. Would anyone be opposed to this trade?

IND won't want Zach in exchange for JO... why would they even consider a trade like that? unless we're giving them that lottery pick or some significant cap relief, we have nothing that would improve their team over the long haul.

the only deal we can make w/IND is something like taking some contracts off their hands like Dunleavy, T Murph & Tinsley for shorter term deals like Marbs & Malik, & even then the Pacers are likely to want D Lee involved in any trade dealings... both Tinsley & Dunleavy are playing well right now & individually their contracts are not as heinous as they once appeared... T Murph they would probably love to unload but why on earth would we want him?

No, I wont. Jermaine is no savior, much less a franchise player. Franchise players player in more games than JO does. We need to tear this thing down and build around the right guys, JO isn't one of them.

Hey I never said he'd be a "savior"... I just like the idea of having a stand up guy in the locker room, that backs up his talk with solid on court performances as well. Say what you want about his injuries.. he still is an allstar power forward when healthy. The other thought is that he'd likely be a better fit with Eddy Curry, not a true compliment but has to be better on the floor from a defensive perspective. I don't see him needing the ball as much to be an effective scorer. He generally finds other ways (Boards, Put backs), the positive side is that you can still run an offense through him.. because he keeps defenses honest.

Indiana, might not do a deal like this... but who knows? I've seen stranger things happen in the NBA. Jared Jeffries an IU guy.. Zach Randolph born in Marion Indiana... hey they might be willing to take on this deal. It's not like he's a bum. They could use a legitimate low post scoring threat... but I agree that Indiana brass would want to dump some bad contracts in any deal for J.O.; so be it. I wouldn't give up a 1st rd pick this year, but a future I might consider.

Artest... I think he's gonna sign for the mid level. If we don't cave in to The Maloofs demand of Lee and Nate, first. (I'd give em Rose, Balkman and Nate)

Here's the truth of any quality trade. NO ONE IN THE WORLD IS GOING TO TRADE WITH US!

They're just not that stupid. As a matter of fact, apparently they where much, much smarter dumping junk off on Isiah.

starbury came as the man who would carry us to a championship, instead thouroughly embarrssing us.
Curry came as Mr. potential and has gotten worse.
Zach came as the beast in the middle and hasn't had much of an affect and is still' one offense away from going to jail. I mean a headband got him suspended. He's not allowed to react. A hard thing not' to do.

You can pretty much expect that whoever dumps whoever off on us, they will dissapoint us just as much as what we have.

We have horrible chemistry and starting with the coach.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Hey man, I never said you said he was savior, I'm just saying that at this point theres no reason to add guys like JO whose contracts are only going to hinder us from getting that top level guy we need. We should be trying to get that through the draft. JO is never healthy anymore either. Since 01-02, Jermaine has averaged only 65 games a year and thats counting 2 season where he played 77 and 78. The guy just can't stay on the court.

How is his "contract going to hinder us from getting that top level guy we need"? It's one year shorter than Zach's. Really, who are we going to sign anyway with our current cap situation? Ok, he's injury prone.... if that's his biggest flaw, I'll take it.. because when he is on the floor his impact is far greater than any of our current big men, wouldn't you agree? Matter of fact, I'd argue that he is better than a majority of power forwards/center in the league when healthy.

I agree that sacrificing 1st rd picks this year would not be wise.. but heck, J.O. for Zach ain't a bad move if it were capable of happening, IMO

if the deal is for Zach & a filler it's a no brainer for the Knicks... Zach's contract runs a year longer & isn't doing anything to help this team improve regardless... at least JO fills a need for shotblocking & low post defense like Jay said

but again, what is Indy's motivation to consider something like that? does that deal improve them at all? does it give them a valuable trade chip? does it clear cap space for them?

The hope here is... J.O. expressing a desire to be traded, we've all heard the rumors. Indiana brass realizing that they will never win with the current team.. Pacers need a shake up, and that they'd have to get the best possible deal out there for J.O. Again, I don't see any other deals that make much sense for Indiana.. the laker deal for Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown??? I know the Nets were dangling some pieces? If Memphis decides to offer Pau Gasol, then that deal could arguably entice the Pacers, especially if they included a true point guard. Other than that, If the Pacers decided to truly consider dealing J.O. for a big man w/ talent, our deal doesn't fall short in that dept. Cash, picks and/ or a playmaking point guard then we'd likely be out of the running.

If we have an abundance of individule talant, why wouldn't nobody make a trade with us. obviously some of the guys stock have took a dip, but clearly theres a need for every player on this team some where at some point.

Curry can't play with another post scorer because he'll whine to his daddy Isiah to bench him.

So no

OK
You have 5-years old Honda Accord. Nothing special but works great for you.
Somebody proposed you to trade it for 5-years old low end Jaguar.
You know it is crappy, will broke, repairs are expensive, and you will need to pay the price difference. Why you will do this? Even if you don't need to pay the difference?
Unless you are just chip show-up guy... like Isiah.
