"It is finally over. Milos Vujanic, one of the best if not indeed the best player in Europe at this point, has said an unequivocal no to the New York Knicks. This two-month old saga started when Vujanic's agent Goran Ristanovic went straight to The New York Post and said his client agreed to a two-year deal with what he described as a "famous European club".

What Hoopsworld reported to you as fact, that the deal wasn't previously signed, proved to be true today when Vujanic inked his new deal. But to everyone's surprise it says that Milos Vujanic will play in Italy not for the next two years, but for the next three years."

"After that move he has a press conference scheduled in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro. The exact financial details of the now signed contract with Skipper where not disclosed today but it is believed that Vujanic will receive no less then $1 million per every year.

Exactly why all of that enormous effort Knicks' GM Scot Layden personally invested in this matter failed to produce Vujanic as Knick for this next season is yet to be known. Mr. Layden himself visited Vujanic several times in Belgrade emphasizing the Knicks' desire to see Vujanic in a N.Y. uniform at the start of the next season."

I gotta believe that the buyout for this contract is "within reason" and Milos can handle it in any year he wants. No one with his kind of potential and an agent would allow a team to absolutely bind him for 3 years.

What is funny is that after the foreign players meet with the NYK organization they want nothing to do with them. Pavel pulls out after his tryout for the KNicks and Milos decides against the Knicks. Now you guys know why the NYK organization is the luaghing stock of the NBA. They can't even negotiate a deal to bring their draft pick over. The lack of commitment to the young players amazes me. I'm sorry but the franchise is destined to doom for a while. As long as they think they can't rebuild they will suck. And this thing about them moving up in the draft is a load of BS. They can trade down but they will never be able to trade up that requires think on the managements part something they don't do well. If they do move up they will pick Ford why because they would rather give Ford more money than Vujanic. It becomes a wasted pick. Its like why the hell would you take ford and miss a chance at a big man when they can just sign vujanic for the same amount ford would have gotten it make no damn sense. They are just messed up. NYK fans are getting jabbed and set up for the KO thats coming on draft day.

As long as James Dolan, Scott Layden and Glen Sather(NYRangers) are running the show for the teams at MSG, the dark days for NY fans will continue. By the way, I can't wait for the reception waiting for this group of iditos at the Garden during the draft on Thursday.

its not the knicks fault that they have been unlucky with foreign players. pavel pulled out due to his diagnosis, not because of his workout with the knicks.. and i could see why milos wants to stay; hes the best players over there, hes a star, and hes already as rich as he needs to be for living in europe. if he came here, he wouldnt get as much publicity and recognition, and he wouldnt be the allstar that he is in europe.

VMart makes a good point about the Knicks not treating younger players right. Who is the last young player or draft pick to really ever get any playing time? Other than Charlie Ward who himself did not see any playing time the first few years, the Knicks have always been a team of veterans acquired through trades. Unless I am forgetting something, the last draft pick to start was Rod Strickland in 88-89? And some playing time to Greg Anthony and Hubert Davis? So a young rookie coming to NY doesn't see himself playing much or starting.
