Riley might want to get rid of him. He will sell tickets here for two years then retire. We get rid of Marbury and Curry. Jason Williams is on the block already. We throw in Balkman to keep Riley happy. What do you think?

Trade breakdown:
Shaq, Jason Williams for Marbury, Curry and Balkman.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

only thing that should be done right now is getting rid of isiah....no trades until someone new gets here. what would this trade do to improve our franchise?

Well the Diesel would sell some more tickets, jerseys, and the post-game comments will be a lot more humorous and charismatic. He'd be the only Knick able to get on a national talkshow at this point, so the famed MSG Marketing department would like that.

Betcha Shaq will come if we throw in an off-season job with the Amtrak Police unit in Penn Station. Or maybe he get some work on a Law & Order episode... satisfy both his acting bug and his criminal justice bug.

And I'm sure White Chocolate will shake and bake his way into the hearts of the Rucker Park faithful.

But what it will do for real Knick fans like us? Nothing of any real substance.

If he could stay on the court, we would be a better team period.

SHAQ over here? Maybe 5 yrs ago but right now, he's just as bad as Curry.

His broken down self is done as a player. He will be missed once he hangs up that jersey but let's not make matters worse over at MSG..

Just like jimimou said, no trades until they get rid of Isiah.

I agree with rojamas, as long as Marbury is NOT included in the deal.

I'd deal for Shaq... no doubt about it. He'd expire at the same time as Marbury. That's $41 million in expirings in two years. This could really speed up the rebuild this franchise has been putting off for so long.

If Shaq is an avenue to get rid of Marbury AND Curry than by all means, I'm for it. I don't think Shaq is an answer to anything, but I'd rather consolidate 2-3 bad contracts into one. It is absolutely not a talent trade.

How about Zach Randolph and Jerome James for Shaq Diesel and a future #1.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'd do that in an instant. Riley is just so desperate that he might do it, not sure about the Jerome part of the deal though. I think the Shaq/Randolph part of the deal is a good starting point though.

I put Jerome in to make the $$$ work and give them back a <ahem> Center.

But really, they can take their pick: Jared, Malik, etc...

Shaq's not going to agree to a trade unless his soon to be divorced wife agrees to move herself and the kids near wherever he's playing which isn't happening and damn sure isn't happening in NY. He can't and won't help the Knicks anyway.

I think he would help big time to be honest, miami has a terrible cast down there and it's actually not a bad trade for them.....

Yeah, I figured as much, not sure Riley is desperate enough to take Jerome, but hey who knows maybe he is. I wonder if Jeffries would be a better for that lineup?

Would you prefer Ben Wallace?

I'd never trade Balkman, he's a unique player that shouldn't be given up. I'd place more value on him than Lee.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

jw44 - balkman is a dime a dozen guy. nice hustle but what is he really giving you for more than 5 mins a night? he has not played 2 good consecutive games yet in his career, and he hasn't played more than 2 quarters well in a row either. i don't think he's dedicated to his craft.

What is so unique about Balkman? I think you are going a bit overboard. You can find any player from a small-school in college hoops to do what he does.

That's like asking would I prefer a fat girl with an odor or an ugly girl with a club foot.

Wallace (and similar contracts) are attractive because when they expire, Zach's contract will still be going for another year and 17mil. That is the year guys like Wade and LeBron could be Free Agents.

I also like Wallace because when paired with Curry, you get Defense and Boards.
