I was looking at the contracts and realized that we really can't move any of the contracts that we'd like to. Which leads to the question 'why has Isiah signed such large contracts for these particular players'? I don't remember anyone knocking down the door to sign any of these guys, when Isiah was bidding for their services, do any of you? I also noticed, that the most likely contracts we'd keep, are the ones' that are more managible. The number of seasons also include this' season.

Here are the more managible contracts 'that we least want to let go':
David Lee - 3 seasons left, with a qualifying offer in the 3rd.
Balkman - 4 seasons left, but with a team option in the 3rd.
Chandler - Who was signed to an incredible '5' seasons (as a rookie), but at least we have a team option in the 3rd & 4th years.
Collins - 4 seasons left, with a team option in the 3rd year.
Randolph Morris - Just this season , making just over 800 thousand and an option to re-sign short term again.

This is the player who isn't really an impact player, but who's contract is negotiable:
Fred - This season only

Granted, these are contracts that might actually be worth keeping for the long run. Or at least until they end:
Zach - 4 more seasons.
Crawford - 4 more seasons, with the 3rd being player option (but still' another one)
Rose - 2 more seasons.
Nate - 3 more seasons, with 3rd being qualifying offer (and another one)

Here's the strange part. The players we'd most likely want to move, are basically the ones we cannot. How did these guys get such sweet deals? How did they get the 'sweetest' deals?
Starbury - 2 more painful seasons, with the ball in his court. (and yes' he's coming back!)
Curry - 4 more seasons, with the last two being player options (this is Isiah baby).
Q - 3 more seasons, with the 3rd being players option.
Jerome James - 3 more seasons, with (again) the 3rd year being player option.
Jeffries - 4 seasons, with the 4th year (you guessed it) being player option.





So, with that said, this eliminates any big trade deals and I thoroughly beleive that as long as Isiah is here, even when these contracts start to end, he has only proven to replace these types of players with the same types of players and the same types of contracts. Clearly, he must be gone before then! The danger for our future here is that, for some strange reason, people like Spike Lee, Chris Rock & Al Sharpton have come to his side, to defend and prevent him from being fired. There is a sympathy growing among the powers that be around the Garden and Dolan will listen to those kinds of sympathies.

Just some things I wanted to point out, in regards to our near future and what it all means right now in the coming months. This is a critical time in our history.

FYI, the rookie 1st round contracts are all set by the league and had nothing to do with Isiah.

Rookie contract, they are all like that

We meed to look to move Curry, Crawford, Q, Randolph for shorter contracts. If we could do that. We would set oursevles up for a lot of cap relief after 2009.

Why to look for some sense in the doings of the madman?
