--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just watched his interview on TNT, this guy is a great kid, he admits to having a learning disability, and having to get special permission to get more time to take the SAT's... he established the Brandon roy foundation for people with learning disabilities...

Listen to this guy talk, he just gets it, I love his game, and I like him even more as a person. this guy is a leader and the type of guy you want on your team. He is grounded, humble and talented. It takes a big man to come on national TV and admit having any kind of disability. Again what a class act the blazers have there.....

How in the hell do we end up with some of the characters we have?

Roy is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.

he rebounds, he passes, he defends, he scores, and he's a good leader.
some Knick fans accept mediocrity as excellence .... I don't!

Roy is an awesome basketball player and seems like an ever better dude. Thats why we picked Eddy Curry over him, I mean we couldn't have a guy like that on our team, it just doesn't send the right message to Knick fans. Dolan and Isiah know that Knick fans want players with questionable character, babies, statwhores and eating disorders.

Dolan and Isiah will never allow great people to be close to them. Because this alone will highlight what a joke of a people they are.
There are thing in life that money cannot buy and power cannot enforce. That’s why Dolan and Isiah will always be sore disgruntled losers.

Next up: The Brandon Roy Foundation.

"I can't wait," Roy says. "It's a dream of mine."

At least 35 athletes with Seattle ties have started charities. Roy wants to be next.

Like all the athletes who came before him, the 23-year-old is at the very beginning of the process. He wants to give back on a grander scale. He has an idea for his charity. He's seeking advice.

"Find something you're passionate about," Jamal Crawford, another local NBA product and a friend, told Roy.

Roy attended an event this summer hosted by Crawford, who opened his house to raise $15,000 for athletic trainers in Seattle Public Schools.

Roy said his best friend, New York Knicks guard Jamal Crawford, prepared him for the business side of the NBA, and the importance of promoting both himself and the team.

"Brandon is really smart," said Jamal Crawford, New York Knicks guard and a close friend. "He watches people, and he has a great support system. Brandon won't be just satisfied with getting to the NBA. He'll be a great player."

Jamal is another dude who is a great guy(well he seems that way) but basketball wise, I think it's a different story.

Jamal's a great guy but he lacks a comparable basketball IQ. Unlike most of the rest of the team, he at least tries to get it, as evidenced by his improvement under Larry. In basketball terms, he's a late starter anyway. It's not like he grew up playing organized ball.

With good coaching and a defined role, Jamal could be an excellent player (a perfect 3rd option) because he's smart enough to listen and adjust. But if you just let him do whatever like Isiah does, of course he's going to revert back to what he knows - poor shot selection and bad habits.

What it comes down to is the whole coaching staff is terrible Aguire included. They are set in their ways and don't demand improvement or professionalism.

You can't preach one thing and do another which is what isiah does. Crawford is never going to improve if he has the green light, just as eddy, q, zach are all out of shape, marbury blackmailing the coach, players earning minutes getting benched, etc.

There is a reason Roy wanted Zach out of town, and every other organization gives up players for the knicks expiring deals.

I love Jamal and think he could have really developed if he had coaches that were willing to work with him for more than one year at a time.
I just hope that people will like me

The option of drafting Brandon Roy was lost in the Eddy Curry trade. Just wanted to point that out to everyone, and Roy was a stud in college and last year. Now, he's just beastly.

The fact he is beasting is not shocking to really anyone. He fell in large part due to injury risk. We'll see if he can put this together for a decade, or if he has a three or four year run of greatness, then is out of the league.

Good post. I've thought for a long time that Jamal would be perfect in an offense like the triangle and playing for a coach like Phil Jax. I think Jamal just needs to be part of a structured offense for people to see how good he can really be. I think without the structured offense, you see what we see with the Knicks and thats Jamal doing alot of chucking because he probably feels his skill/athleticism is better than whatever trash is trying to be run. And you're right, I thought he played very nicely under Larry and I think it was because there was a structured offense and it required discipline.

You're absolutely right. He knows how to pass and he can shoot over opposing PGs. I mean, if Smush Parker can thrive in the triangle, imagine what Crawford can do. Is Crawford for Luke Walton + a pick too crazy to ask for?

I don't think that's crazy, although I think Jamal has more value than that, but it's a good start.

I would personally ask for Kwame/Farmar or Crittenton for Jamal, I think that pretty fair.

I'd ask for Farmar or Critenton too... but the Lakers aren't including either for Jason Kidd, so I don't see it happening for Jamal. Kwame may be realistic though. I like the idea of Walton because he'd be the new starting SF. I like the idea of Walton's passing ability coupled with David Lee's Hustle in the front court... If Crittenton/Kwame is actually an option, then it's superior. Farmar would be ideal, but that won' t happen IMO.
