Despite what was reported in the papers this morning, ESPN reported that Marb didn't travel with the team to Orlando. Okay, something has to be going on behind the scenes. Cant remember ever seeing a grievence leave this long.

Is a buyout in the works? A trade? Did Marbs passion for BB flame out after the death of his dad? Something aint right.

I hope he retires and we get all of the cap money back.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

He'll be on the cap unless he's traded. If he retires, he's still on the cap. It was the same with Houston, Luc Longly, and LJ.

They retired with injuries, he will retire for what reason?

I'm pretty sure his name would still be on the actual cap, even if they don't pay him. It's been like this in almost every other case, but maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps someone less lazy than me can look it up.

This is getting very weird ...here's the article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3168222
Stephon Marbury's status has become a reflection of the New York Knicks in general: uncertain.

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that Marbury is set to return for a third time after the death of his father earlier this month and play in Orlando against the Magic on Wednesday.

But later on Tuesday the New York Daily News cited a team official saying that Marbury did not travel with the team and likely wouldn't play.

Marbury has missed seven of his team's last 11 games following the death of his father on Dec. 2. The Knicks have gone 3-8 during that stretch.

Marbury took his third leave last Thursday after skipping practice because of a combination of flu-like symptoms and personal reasons. He was in uniform but did not play in New York's win over Cleveland the night before.

Earlier this season Marbury skipped a trip to Phoenix and was fined $195,000 by the team. He is appealing.

The Knicks, who are 8-19, have also been dealing with rumors regarding the job status of coach Isiah Thomas.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Thomas may shake up the Knicks' lineup, benching either center Eddy Curry or forward Zach Randolph, who was acquired from Portland in the offseason. It's thought that the games of the two wide bodies are not complementary.

Funny b/c Marbury's bizotch Marc Berman reported he will in Orlando. However, the Daily News, the Knicks arch-enemy, cited a team official the he isnt there. I understand he is going through alot on a personal level, but it seems he can come and go as he pleases. It really isnt right, IMO. Your either going to be here or not.

Marbury is clearly a cancer but you have to figure most of the damage of his presence has already been done. We got rid of players that complemented him because he didn't get along with them. And, the players now have clearly been exposed to his presence. Under no circumstances should a high draft pick be exposed to him(next year). However, that being said, this team is better with him on the court.

In particular we can be at our best when ZBO, Lee, Balkman, nate, and marbs are on the court togehter. As far as this team goes, that linup fits together well, and can win some games, especially if given some time to gel.

As a longtime knick fan, do I by no means, want to see that starting lineup on the court. It might get us in the playoffs(barely or at least close), but man we need that high draft pick to start in the right direction.

I wanted Isiah Thomas fired for Christmas but I'd settle for Stephon Marbury never playing here again.

Good riddance bi-polar scrub.

Berman was probably had. I know there are people in Steph's inner circle that are just as sick of his stalker tendencies and 180 reporting as Knicks fans are. He's as much of a joke to them as he is to us. Missing a flight has never stopped Steph from playing before. Steph has barely left his house in days, but he's going to hop on a flight after dealing with all the emotion of his first Christmas without his father? Please, Berman. Today's article was a complete CYA maneuver after his lame attempt at being Steph's personal Jim Gray. Like I said on K4L, this is 70% grieving and 30% not wanting to be Isiah's built in excuse. Tasha better watch out - Berman is Steph's real better ho.

If you don't mind me asking, and you probably do but don't take this the wrong way, do you have any affiliation with the Knicks or a particular player that shapes your postings?

There's no reason to excuse Marbury's actions be it pre-or-post family loss. There's two things here for me as a fan. The players as people - and the players as just that players. Steph the man has a good heart and I'm sure everyone is sorry for his loss. Steph the player has sucked going on three years and has done nothing but disrupt our team. Although these days that's akin the stirring a backed up toilet with a stick.

Steph's days as a Knick ought to be done. If he never wears the jersey again it's not soon enough.

Buy this guy out already and end this stupidity. He wants to grive until June 2009 (the duration of his Knick contract) I wish him the best in doing so.

Enough already.......and ENOUGH with excusing ANY Knick player for their poor play and lack of heart. It's borderline insane now. They all suck and nothing can excuse this mess. NOTHING.

In some ways you have. I didn't gather you did here so much with exception of breaking down the %'s. I think Cosmic is saying even with the words said on the plane Steph had no reason to abort the team using I SAY UGH'S words and treatment as an excuse. Not even 1%. Him appealing the fine while mourning is comical. I mean how many times has someone said something to someone and it not be taken literal?

Here's an example. With the current changes in the line-up, going with the assumption Curry's headed to the bench, what if I SAY UGH told Curry...."Fat Boy you're headed to the bench and if you don't like it "TOUGH COOKIES"!" And while on the bench during games we see Curry pouting, munching on a 5lb bag of Ginger Snaps getting fatter and fatter.

It doesn't matter how close your relationship is to the Mabrury family, Steph has not done one thing to help this franchise.

I made it quite clear where I stand on Steph both as a man and as an athlete in that introduction thread. If you choose to disregard that to believe what you want, then so be it.
