There are no real sure things.....

Micheal Beasley? How good is that kid? is he a power fwd? is he a small fwd? I never saw him play hard yet.....its not like he is dominating games...he gets his stats but it just looks too easy. How does that translate? Does he replace Zach? or Q?

Derrick Rose? Kid is nice....not a world beater yet though. He could be if he stays another year....truthfully anybody you can name to go #1 would probably benifit from more years in college.

Would getting just the top pick actually be a victory? Can Beasley step in and take the ass rape of the ny media everyday?

assuming that a Rose or Beasley are coming here with a new GM & Coach in place - and that Dolan apologizes & takes responsibility- I think expectations will be low, especially as the new GM jettisons garbage.

Top pick this year, top pick again next year- hope one of those 2 is an all star, championship caliber talent and that the few good pieces we have can remain and develop into a supporting cast worthy of our support.

The media wont ass rape a rookie. Regardless of where we pick, a rookie is a rookie. hey gave Eli time and only started dissing him now that he's blowing loads of ass. Media isn't the problem. If the player is for real, he will continue to improve every year.

Beasley is a SF and he does look like the real deal but I'd prefer Rose because this dude is a playmaker who could also take over games. One day he'll score 30 and the next day he'll get 12 assists. He adjusts to anything and he has a good head on his shoulders. These types of players don't come around often.

Get rid of everyone that are "above" David Lee and Jamal Crawford, combine them with a top pick, and I like the Knicks direction. Beasley, Rose, Gordon, and Mayo all look intriguing. If Crawford can run the point: Mayo, Gordon, and Beasley all look appealing. If Crawford cannot play the point, then Rose looks appealing.

Acquiring another first round pick to get Darren Collison would be ideal IMO, and using our pick to grab the best available big man, between other potential names like Donte Green (for three point shooting) or Blake Griffin (toughness and leadership).

Beasley is really small. I wouldn't pick him right now for the knicks. He has to learn to play like a smallforward and work on his handle or grow 2 inches. If he played with a Power Forward like Odom or Marion is the only I would pick him if I was any GM right now.

Mayo is probably the best kid in college, but he is a scorer. He is a Gilbert Arenas with more natural talent. He likes to actually shoot more then drive all the way to the bucket....... which is why I don't agree with the Marbury or Dwade comparisons. Mayo works of the ball and screens in the games I've seen him play.

Maybe I'm just an old geek who needs to lighten up, but are "ass rape" references necessary? I saw someone else do that in another thread a couple of days ago.

He was a "PG" in high school, but point guards don't typically run an advanced offense at that level. You're right though, he has a very polished SG repertoire for being a freshman in college. To me, his ceiling seems the highest of any prospect in this draft because of the rare combination of talent and polish.

You can draw your own conclusions why certain posters may have that at the forefront of their minds.

we dont have a single player you would consider building around. Shoot for the highest ceiling talent. Thats Rose or Beas

You know what's really funny about this? Again we are totally out of luck! The last two years, chicago got to take our top picks away and now that we might have a chance to get the #1, there's no one that sticks out in college. What a ****'n bummer! Only we' could do that.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Beasley is a beast, I like Rose if the Knicks get him they will be well off but Beasley is off the charts his game is Durrant like. This guy can play pf, sf and sg he is highly skilled player. If the Knicks get the number one hands down no brainer its Beasley.

I've seen Rose some now. He's quite good, but he ain't no Jason Kidd but a better athlete like some say. Kidd was a fantastic college player.

Kidd pretty much took out Duke singlehandedly as a freshman, and duke was in the middle of a dynasty. There was this dude named "Duck" who played well, and I think Tony Gonzalez was on that team, but it was really all Kidd. It was nuts, I'll never forget it. Kidd reeked of greatness as a freshman and he could have made the jump straight to the pros and been a top PG right away.

All that to say, I haven't seen a tank-worthy player in this draft yet. (That is if you believe in tanking, which I don't) But I haven't watched much college ball this year. Maybe the tank-worthy player is European? Chinese/African or something.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Funny- if you haven't seen a tank worthy prospect- then the knicks must have- between Dolan, Isiah and the knick squad- because they are sure tanking it.
