Wow, maybe him retiring is a strong possibility after all...like the guy or not, you have to have compassion for what he's going through...losing a loved one (especially a parent) is never easy
But he isn't the only one this has happened to. I feel sorry for anyone who loses a loved but at the same time this is coming across as Marbury putting his situations before the team. It's a Vibe that feels like "Yeah all of us has lost loved ones but I lost "DON MARBURY", therefore "DON MARBURY">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>your loved ones. While internally that's true but on a scale of "Times And Unforeseen Occurrences Befall US ALL" it isn't. It's like his dad's death is more important than Q losing his brother that was gunned down or Zach's grandmother's death, who played a huge role in raising him. And if this incident brought this team closer together, how come if for nothing else he doesn't spend time with the team and stay close to them instead of not traveling or attending practice with them?

Dude, you have to understand the dynamics between Marbs, his dad and basketball before you start flapping your gums...I'm not saying I understand it, but I'm smart enough to know I shouldn't tread on something I don't understand...Steph's reason for being, especially in basketball is his father...NOTHING is more important...Steph may have achieved more than his brothers and father but basketball is life in the Marbury household...The patriarch of that existence has just passed away..I'm only assuming, that this has shook up the way Marbs is looking at the game and his life...The reason he has been playing ball is gone...He needs to look inward to determine if he wants this anymore...For some it may take a day, others a week or a month...I'm not saying the Knicks should wait months until Marbs makes his mind up but I believe in giving people their space to make life altering decisions especially after a death...
The team will do well to learn to move on without Marbs anyway...If he is able to come back and contribute, the better...But please, have a little patients and understanding when it comes to things we don't all completely understand...
Ummm but Marbury is getting paid 20 million dollars!!! With that, comes BIG responsibility. You know, the show MUST go on! He needs to make a decision soon because it affects not only himself, but also his teammates, coaches, owner, and the fans who pay big money to see the games. If he can't play, then retire. Or stay home, take a buy out and then come back next season for another team.
He's also expressed in several interviews that Basketball is
"JUST A GAME",
"JUST A HOBBY",
"IT DOESN'T DEFINE WHO I AM AS A PERSON",
"I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING ELSE ON THE BASKETBALL COURT I'VE MADE IT OUT OF THE GHETTO", so if what you're saying is true Holfresh then maybe he's reflecting on how poorly he displayed "BASKETBALL IS LIFE OF THE MARBURIES" on the court and let his dad and brothers down in a MONUMENTAL fashion. I'm also sick and tired of hearing the rhetoric of what basketball is to the Marburies as if this sport hasn't meant more to other individuals who've faced adversity. It's interesting how Marbury apologists seem to know all the history, feelings, dynamics of the Marburies, in particular Stephon, but can't explain why he hasn't experienced more success in his NBA career and why he's always the center of controversy. What about Jerry Sloan losing his wife to cancer, Karl Malone losing his mother, I forget what football player but he lost his dad the day before the Superbowl I believe and still played?
I agree with what Major said do right by everyone, including himself instead of dragging it out and creating even more negativity and controversy.
