Ex-Rap played drunk

It has been six seasons since Keon Clark wore a Raptors uniform. His last stop in the NBA was Phoenix, where he was dealt by the Utah Jazz in 2004 but never played a game.

Since then Clark's life has been a downward spiral marked by run-ins with the law for drug possession and various driving offences.

It was at his latest court date, this past Friday in his hometown of Danville, that Clark dropped this latest bombshell.

In a hearing in which his 21/2-year prison sentence was tossed out by an Illinois judge who feels he deserves a new hearing, Clark, now 32, told the judge, "I never played a game sober, unfortunately." He claimed he began drinking in high school and never stopped. Once he reached the NBA he would drink during halftime.

His admission about his basketball career had nothing to do with getting him a new hearing. Judge Michael Clary ruled Clark should get a new sentencing hearing because he did not have legal representation when he was sentenced in absentia Oct. 10 on drug and weapons charges. A new sentencing date has not been set.
