without these crazy trades[like giving up lottery picks for Curry when they were trying to give him 20mm to retire] and good drafting--our payroll could be very flexible right now and we *could* have a team filled with the names Brandon Roy Andrew Bynum Rudy Gay Rajon Rondo Sean Williams etc..a young group of guys who could stay together a long time with a lot of potential to be a championship team for several years. Instead we have a disaster. IT's draft picks for the most part[his supposed niche]when you really take a hard look isnt very good at all.

especially when you consider what could have been with passing of bynum for frye, the 2 picks which could've been roy or gay, or tyrus thomas, the passing of kyle lowry for balkman, just bad stuff all around

That's why this knicks team will remain palying under .500 for a long time. possibly till the next decade.

stop briggs!

I was thinking the same thing watching the lakers-bulls game & the other night when Bynum had 6 blocks.

I don't think his picks have been bad- Frye was the one that yes, you wanted Bynum & isiah should have taken a risk - you had me convinced, along with half the board- and you were right.

And Sean Williams tonight with 6+ blocks

The 2005 and 2006 drafting ranks extremely high in setting this franchise back and I'm not even factoring the picks given away but the selections we made with the picks we had.

I wanted Bynum so bad. I could clearly see at the time that we needed a big man in the middle. He's still only 20 and when you think of it, normally he'd be graduating from college in two more years. That gives you an idea of his potential. chicago screwed us in the playoffs and now their screwing us from the inside.
I'll never trust this' team again.

everyone in the league can play the "who did we pass in the draft" game. the hawks passed on Chris Paul for Marvin Williams. it happens to everyone many times.

the problem is the trading the picks for bad contracts and unproductive, one dimensional players. you have to at least give yourself a shot in the lotto if you are a bad team.

I guarantee you that if any of those players put on the orange and blue they would all have been scrubs, that is why you can never look back. Marbury would have corrupted them and the win now mentality would have made sure they ride the pine way more than they played.

please, don't do that to me.. I was begging for the knicks to draft amare.... that duo would have had us in at least one finals....

our draft picks are the least of our problems

any team would sign up for the value we've gotten vs the slots we picked in
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Everything NY does gets over magnified, when they don't pick players and the value of their current players.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Isiah is not a good drafter

PG passed last year: Marcus Williams, Lowry, Rondo, Farmer

Lottery Picks: Gay or Roye, Noah

Allstars passed for Channing: Granger and Bynum which were very easy selections to make

This guy is a disgrace, collins stinks, nate isn't playing, and we solid rotation guys to show for all his picks, not very impressive

also, you need to factor in the uncertainties of the drafting process - you need to give yourself a couple shots in the lottery. we got one lottery pick out of all these crummy years and used it on frye. i supported the pick, but even with a good drafter like isiah you can't put all your snickerdoodles in one basket. even with our late picks in other years... i was all in favor of picking up and grooming a PG in this last draft, but the guys i talk knicks with were all raving about mardy. again, a pick i support, but you can't keep banking on one young player to meet long term needs.

Put any other team's draft record since 2005 up against ours and tell me which teams have drafted better. Isiah is terrible, but this is the one bright spot.

I think we settled this earlier. Isiah is a solid judge of talent that can draft players that can play, but has no ability to use the draft to his teams advantage.
I just hope that people will like me

Second it.
The problem is not players but coaching, environment, teammates...
Unfortunately players have no choice, otherwise nobody will stay in NY for more that 1 year.
Money is good thinng but players geting similar money everywhere.
