...of hiring has-beens and also-rans comes this:

Lon Kruger is expected to be named to Don Chaney's coaching staff this week, according to a league source.

The Knicks declined to comment on Kruger's status yesterday but a person close to the former Atlanta Hawks head coach said Kruger would be in New York today to begin house-hunting.

Kruger coached 2-1/2 seasons in Atlanta and was 70-122 before being fired in December. At the University of Illinois, Kruger recruited Knicks point guard Frank Williams and coached Williams for one season.

Kruger would join a staff that includes former head coach Brendan Malone. The Knicks' objective during their drawn-out coaching search was to hire former head coaches. Dave Cowens, Terry Stotts, Dennis Johnson and K.C. Jones were also interviewed. It is possible former Knick John Starks could join Chaney's staff as coaching associate, filling the role vacated when Michael Malone was promoted to advance scout.

Gotta LOVE Knicks management. If they were any more clueless, they'd be certifiably brain-dead! Well, at least they are trying to hire former head coaches. Maybe they can coach by committee. Obviously, Non can't do it!

I can see you're a little snake bit! Can't you see Lon Kruger having a powerful influence on Frank Williams? With proper preparation , I can see him beating out the pt guards the knicks have now ward +Eisely. Kruger is the one who recruited Williams to Univ Illinois, so if anybody can teach him how to relax play in the NBA it's Kruger a guy he knows and can trust.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

NEC, think about this way, fans thinking JVG will get us the trade in our favor. Maybe Reef or Nzar can be dealt via Kruger

We will have to wait and see, for now, Im calling this match THE DON-LON connection

i think the hiring of lon was a good move actually and this is coming from someone who doesn't understand the hiring or extensions of don chaney. lon as an asst. was a good move i feel.

there is no way shareef abdur rahim can't make the knicks better.

if shareef is a loser then wouldn't mcdyess be a loser also. i also remember when stephon was being called a loser. it's still a teamgame

all those years as a fan and now i'm the anti-knick. life is crazy aint it.

He hasn't made Atlanta any better why do you think if becomes a Knick he will become a winner. As for Dice never said he was a winner. SARs is the wrong direction. He needs to be a role player on a winning team.

because he is a starter in the nba. he could give the knicks more than kurt thomas would any day of the week.

he's not tim duncan or kevin garnett but he is not kurt thomas or clarence weatherspoon either

he would make them better. that's a given
