Um, thinking 3 different things overrated is sort of stretch to say they have something in common.

How so they all are underrating NBA stats. What I find ironic is many fans feel the same way as they do and the same about other stats. If several stats are overrated how does a team find success?

Depends on the context. Raw blocks numbers might not mean a ton if you can't play consistently good interior D. The Hawks must be near the top of the NBA in blocks but that doesn't mean they are a top defense. The Knicks have abnormally low blocks numbers- that's a red flag for them cause they don't have guys who guard the post or intimidate inside in the first place.

FT% can mislead too. The Knicks back when they had Houston, Van Horn, Kurt were the best or near the best FT shooting team in the league. But they never went to the line, so who the F cared? Meanwhile the Lakers probably had a low FT% b/c of Shaq, but they were going to the line so much that they were getting a lot more utility out of their FT% than the Knicks.

Stls- Similar theory to blocks above. Overall a better stat than raw steals and blocks is turnover differential. A lot of what you can do with steals is negated if you turn the ball over a lot.

Anyway, you have to interpret everything in the proper context.

And asking a really vague question with a questionable link in the answer is not really a good thread topic. You gotta put your posts in better...wait for it...context!

They all have a closely related opinion about a particular subject in the NBA.

LOL - What subject?

VDesai my clue was somewhat weak but I thought it might register with someone because of I SAY UGH and Barkley being mentioned. They are referenced or constantly referencing themselves about overrated stats.

Okay, so they all overrate specific statistical categories.

Isiah apparently overrates the statistics of FINAL SCORES and STANDINGS.

That's what separates Isiah from the other two.

They don't even share the same opinion on any particular statistic.

Not saying I agree with Collins, Isiah, or Charles but trueblue basketball is more then numbers. Its not a science experiment or a mathematical equation. So no numbers do not always tell the full story about a basketball team.

Bitty I agree with you but it's getting ridiculous how many people feel many stats are overrated

If player has no blocks, steals, and cannot get to the line or can hit only 50% of them at the same time he is definitely suck.
If player does all this things good and at good rate he will be useful on any team.

I think The MSG Product has almost all players of the first type.
