Despite back-to-back losses against the woeful Sixers, New York Knicks ' Head Coach Isiah Thomas was reportedly told by owner James Dolan that his job is not in jeopardy.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/49618/20071209/report_thomas_job_safe_with_knicks/

What is it going to take for Dolan to realize the only way forward is to admit the last four years have been a mistake at best, and for whatever good Isiah has done in terms of drafting and arguably improving the talent of the team, albeit at a severe cost in terms of picks and bloated contracts, he no longer can guide this team, and that many of his moves must be undone.

Does Isiah get the whole season?

Is Dolan doing this to be spiteful to Isiah, forcing him to watch and coach this train wreck?

Is Dolan refusing to fire Isiah because somehow it would prove so many in the press right? And his ego, like a small, spoiled child, must not be proved wrong?

And if this is the case, just how bad does it have to get?

Will he act when we've got the worst record in the league, just like he extended Isiah when for a moment we were in the 8th seed?

i think the need to be vindicated for his faith in Isiah is a big part of it... also that Anucha appeal situation probably has a little to do with it too, tho i'm not sure Dolan would really let that stop him if he really wanted to fire Isiah considering all the millions he's wasted on this roster as it is.

It is beyond rational.
I think Dolan will never fire Isiah.
The only way he will go if he himself will not be able to take it anymore.
But so far it looks like nothing is left from proud player he was.
He is greedy and arrogant piece of garbage and he doesn’t care that everybody around NY knows this.

Dolan won't fire Isiah. Isiah is safe, at least through his contract and probably longer. I would not be shocked if Isiah was a Knicks GM and/or coach until around 2013.

One common criticism of Dolan is firing coaches that still were getting paid through their contracts. Perhaps that criticism of Dolan is going to bite everyone, because the one guy he should get rid of early is going to stay.

I truely beleive that the worst Isiah's team gets, then the safer Isiah's job is. I don't know why that makes sense, but it's pretty obvious.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Can someone please find Dolan and punch him in the face? We'll find the best lawyer in the world who's a Knicks fan and get you off. In fact, considering Dolan's ineptness, he'll probably hire a team of lawyers that will end up making him pay you 11.6 million dollars. Nothing to lose- so if you see him, punch him!

Isiah's job status is apparently tied to corporate politics. It seems to have nothing to do with the Knicks play on the court this go around.

*Anucha appeals
*24M extension money

Those two things are preventing the firing of Isiah Thomas. At this point I'm convinced that we could lose another 7 games in a row, wind up 6-20, and Dolan still won't pull the trigger until the Appeals are exhausted and he can terminate Isiah's extension forcing arbitration on the issue.

It'll never happen but the third angle is Dolan will make Isiah so miserable that Isiah would resign.
