Why would the Knicks do this trade now?
....because some have the belief Ron Artest can force Curry to play defense and lose weight - or at the very least completely hide all of Curry's deficiencies. He's also going to completely hide Crawford's lack of defense and 39% shooting from the opponent. He'll make Marbury look like Jason Kidd. In Artest's presence Lee and Balkman will hit 18 footers at a 50% clip. And so on and so forth down the path of practically delusional thoughts as to why acquiring one player will hide all the flaws of the other 14 players he is playing with and we'll be a league elite in no time.
/stupid rant
Yet, I think that stupid rant proves a point: No one trade, heck, no two trades will change who the players we have are. If one of our players is a defensive liability no trade will change that nor hide it!
Yet, some hold out hope a simple addition such as an Artest will flip our 6-11 record to 11-6 in a flash. I can't blame anybody for holding out any optimism but I have to ask them this: Over four years of this type of mentality from our front office - doing the bandaid trade as I like to call them - what player ever changed us for the better? Let alone led to a drastic turning point in the franchise? Tim Thomas? Curry? Crawford? Marbury? Jeffries? Vin Baker? Jalen Rose? Francis? Zach? QRich? Nate/Frye/Lee/Balkman/Collins?
When do you realize that continuing down the same path will ultimately change nothing over the long haul?
I guess all fans have their breaking point and some still have not yet had theirs in realizing what a mess this roster is and that no one addition can change it AT ALL!
