NY trades ZACH, JONES
NJ trades CARTER, M.ALLEN, D.ARMSTRONG
SAC trades ARTEST, SAR, D.WATKINS, J.WILLIAMS

NY gets ARTEST, SAR, WATKINS, WILLIAMS
NJ gets ZACH, JONES
SAC gets CARTER, ALLEN, ARMSTRONG

NY finally gets ARTEST, SAR and LEE can split PF, WATKINS and WILLIAMS get cut.

NJ finally gets that post threat with ZACH and another high flyer in JONES who would gel well with Kidd and could split the SG spot with Wright.

SAC gets seats filled with CARTER who can play both SG and SF, they get another PG in ARMSTRONG and can cut or play ALLEN

CARTER, ZACH and SAR have long contracts, everyone else expires this year.

Thoughts???

You don't want a defensive stud at SF that can also score? We don't really need 2 big guys that can score, but between Q, Jeffries, Balkman, Chandler we really don't have a legit SF.

When we didn't have Zach we were trying to add some defense at the PF/C spots. Curry can do enough scoring for both PF/C positions.

next step... bring in a defensive big man.

then trade Marbury or don't resign him next season and keep Crawford, dump Nate and get a traditional PG with a defensive SG.

Curry/???
Lee/???
Artest/Balkman
???/Craw
???/Craw

8 or 9 man rotation

With Bibby out and Martin going down, doubt Sac would bring in VC's contract. with that said,if you acknowledge that the Knicks need a defensive PF, why would you cut Justin Williams?

One problem is that we don't have two extra roster spots. We'll have to cut two of the players.

....because some have the belief Ron Artest can force Curry to play defense and lose weight - or at the very least completely hide all of Curry's deficiencies. He's also going to completely hide Crawford's lack of defense and 39% shooting from the opponent. He'll make Marbury look like Jason Kidd. In Artest's presence Lee and Balkman will hit 18 footers at a 50% clip. And so on and so forth down the path of practically delusional thoughts as to why acquiring one player will hide all the flaws of the other 14 players he is playing with and we'll be a league elite in no time.

/stupid rant

Yet, I think that stupid rant proves a point: No one trade, heck, no two trades will change who the players we have are. If one of our players is a defensive liability no trade will change that nor hide it!

Yet, some hold out hope a simple addition such as an Artest will flip our 6-11 record to 11-6 in a flash. I can't blame anybody for holding out any optimism but I have to ask them this: Over four years of this type of mentality from our front office - doing the bandaid trade as I like to call them - what player ever changed us for the better? Let alone led to a drastic turning point in the franchise? Tim Thomas? Curry? Crawford? Marbury? Jeffries? Vin Baker? Jalen Rose? Francis? Zach? QRich? Nate/Frye/Lee/Balkman/Collins?

When do you realize that continuing down the same path will ultimately change nothing over the long haul?

I guess all fans have their breaking point and some still have not yet had theirs in realizing what a mess this roster is and that no one addition can change it AT ALL!

Artest is not a one-man solution but simply a starting point. Next step get rid of Marbury.

a better question would be why would NJ do this trade? they both have equal length horrendously bloated contracts, but Vince is the more marketable, brings w/him the star appeal for the fans & is more desirable to NBA teams which makes him more easily tradeable.

forget any trade scenarios w/the Nets cuz we have nothing that they would want other than our 1st round pick & possibly Lee or Balkman.

over the summer i thought that Artest could have completed the puzzle, but with the team in its current state, he might just push them to the breaking point

We don't need Artest in here right now
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Artest would have helped this team a lot. Q would have been benched and his aweful shooting would have been avoided. Artest is a smart player who gets everyone involved.
