Zeke on the role of a true Point Guard:

"The point guard, you take it out of bounds and you give it to him. The leadership, the trust, the playcalling -- a lot of that comes from the point-guard position. It's the most critical position in the game." -Thomas said.

He acknowledges that it is the most critical position and he is still screwing aroung trying to figure out who on his team is a PG! No wonder we suck('');

Funny that Isiah says this now, didn't hear him chirp out these words when Larry was saying the same exact thing 2 years and 28 million dollars ago. Oh right, he was too busy putting the blame on Larry for allegedly "tanking" games with the same headless point guard and much worse surrounding garbage.

Are you saying the team personnel has been improved considerably since LB?

Larry Brown wasn't tanking

he was making sophisticated strategic moves to build team morale and cohesion for the inevitable day he would take over as team president

I do find this maddening since he was the one that made the acquisitions. Isiah's main problem is as follows:

Instead of finding players that actually do what he needs them to do, he finds players that can't do what he needs them to do and then tries to teach them. This can work with 1 or 2 guys but an entire team???

Marbs, Nate, Jamal and Mardy can all learn some of the PG position from playing for Zeke. But until he brings in a true PG that can show them on and off the court habits for success he is going to be beating himself over the head wondering why 10 year vets still don't get it.

Shame we couldn't bring in Sam Cassell when he was available.

That is an excellent insight!

Team personnel was only a small part of it when you compare Larry's season and Isiah's first season coaching. There were many other factors which affected Larry's ability to win games that Isiah didn't have to deal with the following season. I have detailed everything a zillion times over at realgm, but that was back when everybody was playing deaf dumb and blind when it came to Larry Brown. I'm really in no mood to type it all over again because people such as yourself are going to play stupid. If I find my posts from realgm, I'll repost it here.
