I read that in the morning paper. Thats a good move by JVG. He owes Ewing that and half his salary.

Vmart I remember reading where gundy said Ewing helped him pay his mortgage and send his kids thru school, all while driving a 95 "HONDA CIVIC". That comment was based on Ewing giving vandunce the nod as head coach over nellie.THIS IS THE KIND OF LOYALTY THAT COST US. We all saw how the young big men in Washington prospered under Ewing. Another you wash my back i'll was yours scenario NY is known for. I am waiting for the players to revolt and tune him out in Houston.

yeah that is some kind of loyalty. patrick ewing finally got a real job in coaching.

van gundy is in the big league now. the western conference

all those years as a fan and now i'm the anti-knick. life is crazy aint it.

Too funny!

You know what, at least know we will know what JVG is. We will not need my commentary or worse yet, Playa's to see it. JVG is about winning. If they do not win a playoff game in his years there, it will be a joke. If he does, then he will do better than RUdy T the last 2 or 3 years. The further in the playoffs he makes it the more we will gauge his success or lack of it.

The way you all talk about how "Great A Coach" Vandunce is, he should be in the Western semifinals next yr, anything else would be a failure! Remember he's all about winning! This guy has much more talent than Chaney had to work with so lets see how you (JUDGE HIM) his 1st yr and he gets to start the yr as the coach not after Rudy T's traning camp and 19 days into the season..

Playa, don't set the standards so high for JVG and so low for Chaney! You were happy with NY being 37-45 this year! The reason for hiring JVG is to take Houston to the next step. Rudy T is a tough man to follow, a great coach in his own right. TO say JVG must get to the semi-finals of the conference this year is to say Chaney should win the East. THe West is much tougher than the EAST, everyone knows that. Making the playoffs in the West is an accomplishment. I am not setting any standard for JVG except for making the playoffs. If he does make the conference semi-s or even better, will then you finally admit that the man can coach? I doubt it. You will take back you words and se tthe bar higher if I know you at all.

And since you love to quot ethe negative, read the Daily News article about the Knicks. Read what Othella Harrington has to say about it.

Why would I read a quote(as swish would say) from the littlewomen othella harrington say? I am gonna set the bar where it shoiuld be you're the one lowering the bar foe vandunce. Chaney has had injuries to his"BEST" player, vandunce doesn't have that problem yet. Has vandunce ever missed the playoffs, why should making the playoffs with all that talent be you bar on this "GREAT COACH". RUDY WON TITLES, VANDUNCE GOT BAGS UNDER HIS EYES. RUDY SURVIVED THE BONECRUNCHING PUNCH FROM KERMIT WASHINGTON FROM POINT BLANK RANGE, VANDUNCE HAD TO GET HIS STOMACH PUMPED FROM O.D. on "DIET COKE"

Myron, I am just responding to your stupidity, which makes me stupid beasue I already know that you will never understand anything. Even if JVG wins a title in Houston, you will never give him the credit. So you know what, let's not talk about him until then ok?

Besides, read my posts, it was I who said, that a coach does not priove himself fully until he can do it in two places! So far, JVg has done a good job in one place, but no rings, that is a knock. Brown has been very good in like 6 places. Thus, he is more respected and should be but no rings either. Riley, great in one, good in the second, so-so in the third. Jackson, great, great. Nelson, good, good, no rings. Carlisle - good, ?. This goes for the modern NBA, let's not talk about the Holzman's and Auerbach's! The game was different then. There is no doubt they were great coaches, no doubt!

You need to evaluate things much more concretely and without your silly prejudices.
