"when you come to the fork in the road, take it" - Yogi Berra

So, the Knicks' Friday opponent can't win on the road, can't play defense, and boasts a rookie power forward who isn't as good as his hype. Zach Randolph should outplay Yi, and his teammates should put a point total like the 113 they plopped on Utah. Although tonight's game in Boston is a long shot at best for New York, tomorrow night's contest should be an easy win. If it isn't, then brace yourself for another round of hysteria.

With the Celtics leading the league in defensive efficiency (points allowed per 100 possessions), and ranking sixth in offensive efficiency, it's hard to imagine the Knicks (26th on defense and 24th with the ball) having much chance to beat Boston.

On the other hand, the Bucks should offer a solid grounding in reality for the Knicks. If the Bucks are to be even remotely relevant this season, this is the kind of game that they have to win. Yes, the Bucks have a winning record (7–5 going into last night's action), and they have a budding player in forward Yi Jianlian. But their success is mostly illusory; this is a team that the Knicks should beat.

Winning both puts up just 3 games in the hole and on a 4-game win streak. :)

Besides, the Zekester ain't goin' nowhere while this case is still in appeals.

Yi is doing better than I thought. It's a pretty big jump into the NBA for a real young guy like him and he is holding up well with solid minutes. He's had some good performances on the boards and it looks like he can also blocks some shots.

K22 - winning both would send the scribes scrambling for more stories about how Isiah cheated on his taxes.

The question is can the Knicks stop turning the freakin' ball over more than 17 times a night and get 6-7 guys in double figures?

Losing both ain't the end of the world, but it would be a sucky way to start December.

Yeah I agree with the latter. If you can him he has no incentive to stick up for Dolan in court. That could mean a 21.6M combined payout (Remember, there's two seperate hearings, the 11.6M awarded now in appeals - AND - another hearing for the 10M compensation she actually sued for). Yet, chances are the appeals reduces that number and I've read numerous times the compensation trials end up with a very small portion of the original sum sued for.

Yet, again, Zeke's going nowhere unless we go on a 2-22 stretch and that's unlikely. All things considered I think he gets to play the season out. You just have to hope that if they only win 37, 38 games and miss the playoffs that Isiah is gone. I mean, comeon, that'd be 4.75 years under this guy and we'd still be only as good as the Layden team he inherited? Only an idiot, err, I mean a Dolan, would perceive that as success.

As to Milwaukee I refuse to get sucked into any trap these days. Even if we beat Boston the LAST thing I am going to do is say "Well, Boston is better than Milwaukee and we beat Boston so we're going to CREAM MILWAUKE!!!!"

'cause that's just the game we'd lose. I fail to see how any of our past several years of inconsistencies have been miraculously wiped out with a struggling win at home over the garbage Bulls and a win at home over the tired Jazz. Even a win up in Boston won't change a thing. 5-9 is not 9-5. Although Isiah would lead us to believe it is!

This team has a lot longer road than a paltry 2 game win streak - leading to delusions of grandeur of a potential four game win streak - before they are a believable team.

Prove it first, then we'll re-evaluate.

Cos:

Don't mistake my hopes for predictions. I'm still in "wait-and-see" mode until the new year - for basically the exact same reasons you've just mentioned.

Honestly, the Bucks game concerns me a helluva lot more than tonight's game in Boston.

Still though 6-9 looks a lot better than 5-10 and 4-11.

If we beat Boston, IT is here for the full year unless we go through a 12-game losing streak or some other similar disaster. A boston win buys IT the rest of the year.

Most likely, we lose to Boston and beat Mil, which will put us at 5-10. Not good, but not something the team could not recover from.

The entire Knicks roster should not practice today

they should go to a burn clinic

a homeless shelter

a school for special needs children

and stay the day

not for a photo op but to understand how fortunate they are

and to understand the meaning of selfishness

I agree, but it probably should have been done well before last night.

Start Nate

bippity - at this point any change is a necessary move. Forget ego, politics, money and/or feelings about individuals. When David Lee can't get enough life to complete a dunk he can do in his sleep, either he is more injured than we know or he simply does not care. and when David Lee does not care there is a problem.

and why is Mardy Collins yawning?

Shift du Milwaukee:

Nate Robinson who hustled his azz off until the final whistle.

Balkman, who did the same.

Jeffries. Lee and Randolph Morris (just because)

Suit up The Mayor. make Zach sixth man. Malik Rose becomes player/head coach.

everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, (coaches included) else can take a nap.

What are you talking about, this is just fine jazz and you're not appreciating it for what it is.

Shame on you.

Indeed.

Hey most of us knew we had a flock of passionless vets well before last night. The question is, why have we waited so long to put our feet down and try to stop the madness? Is it too late?

How much time would you have given Lb before you finally said "maybe it is too late"

It's never too late.

To be perfectly clear bipp, I would have given Larry Brown at least two more years to force the players egos into submission, sabotage the first 2 seasons, negotiate behind the scenes and the back of the GM to acquire just two quality replacements in the seconds off season, trash at least two more players by name in the New York media (while skillfully averting an all-out mutiny) and make the playoffs by the third season.

but that's just me

Or you can give Isiah 4 years to sabotage and get them to the point where a fully healthy squad can lose by 45 points to a division rival.

I really hope you're enjoying this misterearl. This is what you wanted.

This is what you deserve.

So you are saying that it was too late for the roster and things needed to be changed, but 4 years later it's still not too late? I can't keep up.

Calm down, why ya'll trying to punk out Earl?

So what, he's a glass half-full fan. What's good with all the animosity?

Even though the Knicks are down, it still doesn't justify a lot of the anti-Zeke vitriol that has dominated this board. Ish has gotten personal and childish. He's underachieved and deserves an ax, so did Larry Brown and a host of others. This whole decade has been a disaster.
