at this point i don't think a .500 record gets it done this year... i think there's alot more mediocre teams out there right now that will all be vying for those last couple playoff spots

IMO, we gotta go 38W - 31L the rest of the way to hope for 42 wins & any realistic shot at the playoffs this season... this team needs to go & string together a few 5-6 game winning streaks this season to have any legitimate shot at doing it.

What would you prefer to see: The Knicks squeezing into the 8th seed of the playoffs, or the Knicks playing their young players and phasing out some veterans, and finishing with a mid to early lottery pick (in the 1 to 7 range)?

I don't think this team is making the playoffs. Even before Marburygate vs Coach Eyebrows I didn't think this team would make the playoffs. So there is on way in hell I think they are going to win it now. If they can win 8 games in a row maybe I will change my mind.

I think there's a good chance this team will play .500 ball the rest of the year but that will put them at the 37 win mark or so.

honestly for me looking at this all in a realistic light, it all depends on who's going to keep running this thing from here on out... if Dolan is dedicated to keeping Isiah here for better or for worse, then i say we go for broke & try like crazy to make the playoffs, cuz i know for sure that will be his 1 & only goal every year from here on out... if on the other hand, we do the right thing & get rid of Isiah & replace him w/someone who actually has a plan to build a title contending team, then i say go the rebuilding route... i have a very hard time imagining Dolan ever doing the right thing tho... i think he only cares about playoffs & nothing else.

basically i wanna tank & rebuild this sucker cuz this team ain't going nowhere as presently constructed... but i know that's not even remotely in Isiah or Dolan's future plans

pretty much the win total i imagined for this team before the season... it's sad to think that this team has to start playing better than they've ever played in the past 5 years just to miss out on the playoffs & end up w/a crappy lottery pick.

It is sad, isn't it? This is unbearable torture from a team of pathetic losers.

I agree with you that it probably will take 42 wins to make the playoffs. I don't see us doing that. Frankly, my prediction for the year was 39 wins, which would require them to play above .500 for the rest of the season. I just don't see it happening. We just have to come to the realization that we're a bad team again, and you can't just keep adding uncomplementary players to make a big mish mosh of players who don't fit together.

I hate to admit it, but I've turned completely to the dark side. I now root for the Knicks to lose. I've accepted that it's our only hope. If we lost big this season, and a few cancers were removed from the team, but we got our youth some burn, I'd say it's the most progress we had made in years. The playoffs are almost irrelevant to me. The playoffs mean another 5 year extension for Isiah. No thanks.

To make the playoffs we will need consistent effort, better defense and get better offensive production from the 3 spot and alot less turnovers. Marbury's work on d against Utah has to become a nightly occurence and the baby steps by Curry defending the rim have to be all the time.
