Found this from the Daily. Yet another example of 'credibility' that Dolan and Isiah ****'d up.

Never say never, but you can probably cross "The Logo" off the Knicks' list. A couple of longtime friends of Jerry West categorically refute the notion that the ex-Laker GM would come to New York to rebuild the Knicks, even if Jim Dolan were to come to his senses and reach out to someone with West's expertise. They say West hates to deal with controversy and would be totally stressed out dealing with the New York tabloid feeding-frenzy. Too bad.
I'll never trust this' team again.

can't blame the guy... why would he want to deal w/an incompetent embarassment of an owner like Dolan when he could find a job working for another franchise w/much less headaches?

let's just hope Jerry Colangelo doesn't feel the same way

I don't think it has anything to do with Dolan. It has more to do with a witch hunt type mentality some of the media guys have in this town. GMs get scared off by those intimidating writers.

I cannot understand this.
Only in NY GM can get paid a fortune for doing "Fantasy team" construction onwner's expense, roam around with nice smile doing nothing. This is dream job for anybody.
I guess these guys are too rich already...

the article i read mentioned the environment of suspicion & fear that has proliferated in NY ever since Dolan took over this team... he manipulates the press & gives them access to conversations that they really have no business having access to.

Jerry worked in LA- that's as big a sports town as NY- I think the difference is in ownership.

The media is more laid back in LA than in NY. They have given Kobe more lives than a cat. In NY you only get one.

Logo didn't even come to league meetings in NYC.

It ain't for everyone and at his age why should he deal with this mess. If your from here thats one thing. Gotta love the buzz. The dude just built a spread in WV thats killer and wants to chill on him pile.

West has said he wouldn't come to NY for a long time, from what I understand so this isn't much of a shock. NY media is easily the most vicious and don't forget West was a rival of the Knicks in the 70's, so this may play in as well.

I'd rather Colangelo or Walsh anyway, if Isiah is fired.

It(NYC-MEDIA) isn't for every player either.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

^...And as we've learned the hard way, in recent years, it's not for every basketball team owner.
