Stern Denies Telling Dolan to Make Changes

As the Knicks slid into chaos last week with an 0-4 road trip, punctuated by Stephon Marbury's decision to abandon the team in Phoenix after being benched by Thomas, two separate published reports stated that Stern was pressuring Cablevision chairman Charles Dolan to make changes in the Garden's management, and that he also approached James Dolan at a recent NBA owners meeting and said, "Either you take care of it or I will."

In an interview with Newsday yesterday, Stern adamantly denied the reports and said he hasn't spoken with either Dolan about the Anucha Browne Sanders lawsuit or the current state of the Knicks.

In a phone interview from the NBA offices, Stern was asked whether he or anyone from the league has spoken with Charles Dolan about the lawsuit or the team's basketball management.

"No," he said.

Walsh Denies New York Rumors

For someone who has taken a backseat in the team's day-to-day basketball operations, Indiana Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh is still in the news around the league. A report in New York said Walsh could become the Knicks' president of basketball operations next summer if former Pacers coach Isiah Thomas is fired.

Newsday reported Tuesday that someone with knowledge of the situation said Walsh would "certainly be open" to joining the Knicks with full control over the basketball operations.

"That is complete (expletive)," Walsh said Tuesday. "I would not be a candidate for that job for a lot of reasons. The major one is Isiah. I'm not doing that. Isiah is a friend of mine, and I wouldn't be a candidate for a job he's in."

That's easily remedied. Fire Isiah first and appoint an interim GM, then it wont be Isiah he's replacing.

I find it very ironic how DW is speaking in terms of holding I SAY UGH in high regards, having deep respect for him but allowed Larry Bird to demonstrate his first act of duty as GM of Pacers firing I SAY UGH. Whatever! I take what was said with a grain of salt. We all know once the position is made known as open the Hyenas will come scavenging for I SAY UGH'S dead carcass.

Yeah, it's a bit reminiscent of Colangelo's high praise for Steph while dumping him for our "garbage" just a few short months after a contract extension.

Yeah I remember you posting those comments from your Marbury journal notes. Speaking of which a poster on REALGM is requesting player quotes from Marbury's career. I replied and suggested he post that thread on here and register an account so he could. Informing him you have his career chronicled.

The last time I posted it, for nixluva, was probably the most concise and career encompassing:
