November 21, 2007 -- Zach Randolph was as upset with the Garden crowd last night as the crowd was with the Knicks.
The boos started during pregame introductions and continued to rain down on the Knicks throughout their 108-82 blowout loss to the Warriors.

They picked up intensity with each turnover and bricked shot until reaching a crescendo midway through the fourth quarter. That's when the fans turned on embattled president/coach Isiah Thomas, who was serenaded with a deafening "Fire Isiah!" chant.

The pleas for Thomas' job didn't go over well with Randolph, the veteran power forward Thomas brought in from Portland over the summer.

"I didn't like that," Randolph said. "I ain't never heard nothing like that. Coming from Portland, I ain't never heard the fans do something like that. It was surprising."

Randolph said the crowd's animosity toward Thomas pained him.

"It's hard on me because Isiah brought me here, and he's a good coach," Randolph said. "We ain't winning right now, but [the fans need to understand] it's early in the season and I'm new. We just have to work it out."

Randolph, whose 15 points and 16 rebounds were marred by seven turnovers, was a rarity in the Knicks locker room when it came to responding to the crowd's ugly mood.

Most of his teammates appeared to shrug off the boos and the Thomas chant, saying they expected nothing less from city that demands excellence no matter the sport.

"The name of the game in New York is winning, and we didn't get that accomplished," forward David Lee said. "I know the fans were frustrated, as we were. They pay their price to come to the game, so they're entitled to yell what they want. I just tried to block it out and play ball."

Stephon Marbury, making his first Garden appearance since leaving the team briefly in Phoenix last week, shrugged off the boos directed both at him and the team.

"Boos or no boos, we didn't play well," said Marbury. "You can never control how somebody feels."

The boos can't help but be a distraction, forward Quentin Richardson said.

The answer? "Start playing well," Richardson said. "That's always the answer in New York. When we play well, none of this stuff happens."

Fishmike the title of this thread is a little misleading. Anyone especially a player not from not NY would be shocked to hear their home crowd booing the hell out of his teammate and coach.

I played in an atmosphere where after our center missed a lay-up someone pegged him in the side of the head with a battery. Two security guards saw the guy that did it and just laughed. If one of us had said anything to the media somebody would have been shot. We kept our mouths shut and just played harder. We were boo'd all season long until we started winning. After that, the batteries were thrown at the opposing team.

Mental toughness. You have to have the right players in NY.

Bip the funny part of that story is that the guy who threw the battery at the Center(I'm assuming Travis Knight?) was probably Calhoun lol.

Don't we have to give up a pick for Marbs one of these years too? God this is such a disaster team.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Despite his nice solid double last night, Zach looked like a mess last night.

He was simply sloppy and unaware of the peripheral Warriors' defense.

the title of this thread is actually the title of the article. fish doesn't have that type of creativity. his thread titles would be something like "zach's a douchebag".

perhaps not committing 7 TO's & passing the ball once in a while will earn Zach some respect in NY... also not crying about the fans after going out & embarassing yourself on the court to a bad team might help.

what a joke... just another high priced underachieving excuse maker to add to our collection... wonderful.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
