Chris Sheridan ( http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=isiahwatch-071119&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab5pos2 ) pointed out Phil Jackson may not sign an extension after the season. There's Donnie Walsh speculation.

If I owned the Knicks, gutting it completely and allowing Walsh and Jackson establish a winning culture, while setting the team up to target Dwayne Wade after the 09-10 season seems like a plan.. especially when Cablevision has enough resources to make it happen, or something similar.

It is going to take more than one season to turn things around, so why not just admit that and get back to making the second round every May/June.

do you think phil jax wants to come here with this roster? besides, phil minus 2 superstars is not that good a coach.

No, but if he gets input on how he'd like the thing completely rebuilt, maybe he'd come. I mean, LA doesn't seem to consider his input and that's tough for a proud Jackson to take.

Also, this thing is such a big mess. Part of the reason Walsh is interested is if he can turn this around, his legacy is as one of the best GMs ever. Jackson is already in that category of coaching, but his name doesn't have the same impact it once did. So, if you can sell "Restoring the Knicks to Greatness" to Jackson's ego, yes, I think he'd come HOME. He was a Knick and he knows something about great New York basketball.

Donnie Walsh + Rick Carlisle sounds more feasable...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I just want a plan.

Donnie with Herb is ok with me. Herb can be mr. transition then kick him upstairs for being a good soldier.

Donnie gets to fire Isiah twice! and get paid for it!!!!!!

Its good work if you can get it!

I think Phil might come here if he indeed does get input on the whole rebuild process.

Weird thing with Phil Jackson is this:
After watching the NBA for all these years, I don't have a sense of whether or not he can pick our players or not. You know the guy knows X's and O's and coach the hell out of guys that are on the floor for him, but I just don't get this feeling that he can identify talent.

Maybe it's just me, his 9 rings might state otherwise.

Also.. don't get me wrong, I'd take him as coach in a heartbeat, I'm just saying I don't know how much valuable input he can give on going after college players or something like that.
