Another Lineup Shakeup Looming Large For Knicks
November 18, 2007 - 5:36 am
New York Daily News -

Isiah Thomas is thinking of changing his starting lineup again, and probably hopes the next move doesn't send the player he's benching AWOL.

"We could have another change or two down the road, depending on the way our guys are playing," he said before the Knicks' latest loss. "I got three big guys who are playing as well as any three big guys in the league, in David (Lee), Eddy (Curry) and Zach (Randolph). There could be some thought to playing those three together, a lot. So we'll look at ways to continue to get better and to get the best players on the floor, regardless of position."

If Lee becomes a starter, that would send Quentin Richardson to the bench. While that would make the Knicks a bigger and better rebounding team, it would also pose quickness problems when they play against conventional small forwards. Lee can't guard on the perimeter, while Richardson has shown he is still a better-than-average defender on the outside.

9 games...5 lineups...with another change upon us...hmmm...

Another lineup change? Now that Isiah has moved from the tunnel and has assumed LB's seat on the bench, I guess he has an up close and personal look at the ill-fitting parts he has assembled.

He removed LB (who I cound't stand by the way) but the parts remained the same. When is Isiah going to realize that no matter how times he tries to reassemble these odd parts, it aint going to work. Its the architect that needs to be replaced.

With that said, its a bout time Q is about to be removed from the starting lineup. He was done the moment he got here. Lee is perhaps our most effecient player, so getting him as many miutes on the floor as possible is a good thing. Whats not good, however, is playing Lee extended minutes at the 3. He'll struggle defensively. Again this goes back to the odd parts. Lee is a great part to have, but he's out of position.

Outside of the three spot, the Knicks frontcourt is a strength. Isiah has the choice of playing Lee at the three or four. But if he is really in a revolutionary mood, with nothing to lose, expect to see Lee gain some minutes at center.

I'm delighted the lineup change is not based on a random match with player's hometowns, but on an aggressive attempt to find the best five.

Crawford
The Mayor
Randolph

Curry is not a strength. And Lee playing out of position at SF, on the offensive and defensive end, is not a strength.

I hope you're delighted with this garbage because you deserve it misterearl.

Collins, Crawford, The Mayor, Randolph and Lee is the starting 5 of about a 20 win team.

lee + zach could log major minutes vs. the midget warriors.

don't understand why chandler hasn't seen more time yet. isiah trots out a freshly injured balkman down 20 but no chandler. why?

Isiah is lost trust for this modern guards...
He want t oplay 5 forwards:

Eddy
Zach
Lee
Q
Balk

We will have major size advantage.
Atlanta used to play 5 SFs so why not to try...

This would be my starting line up
Nate - Was the best player in training camp per Thomas so why not start him
Crawful - not much choice here, need to curb is awful habits
Balkman - Energy defense
ZBo
Curry

The best thing for the Knicks right now is to get rid of Jerkbury, yes he has talent but is hasn't translated to wins for any team he has been a part of. We need to lose Rose also.

I don't think that lineup is going to work, but it'll be interesting to see what happens.

An interesting thing though - that would be two of the oldest players going to the bench, right? Any chance the mayor gets more burn? I'd like to see how he handles more minutes.

We can't start Lee as you can see what happened at the start of the 3rd quarter last when he was guarding Melo, he'll get beat like a cheap $10 Ho all day.

Knicks need a trade......or a perminant roster move......not a roster change.

Changing the line-up just shows you have no idea what you are doing.....a la larry brown.

He needs to cut the fat already. Put marbs on inactive, start Nate, bench Q. Start balkman. Keep playing fred jones, place collins on inactive. Get the mayor in some games.

Zach/ lee
Balkman/ Q/ mayor
Curry/ lee/ jared
Nate/ craw/fred
Craw/fred/Q

Go 8 deep with jared and the mayor chippin in.

Lock it in and lets make it through the new year.....end of story.

"what am I gonna invent a point guard"
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Having Lee in the floor helps. We've seen that. The 3 is obviously not his position but he has some 3 skills- he slashes into the paint and sets people up very well. Sometimes you have just have to dictate to other teams. Who's gonna match up with all the size up front? It should be a huge mismatch in our favor to that end.

We're one of the reasons fans were upset with LB because he used so many different line-ups and never settled on a solid rotation?

Is somebody telling I SAY UGH who to play?

NYKRess - not bad. I thought about The Mayor at shooting guard. At 6'8 220 he would have some tough defensive matchups, but there may also be some matchups that he can take advantage of.

The oldest player on your shiftline is 26.

you know isles- that might be a 20 win team- but guess what- they're actually a bunch that might put effort in every night on both sides of the ball (with the exception of Crawford) and what is the salary of the starting five like- $24MM between Zach & Craw and then a bunch of guys on rookie deals- I'll take that

if he's going to tweak the starting 5, he really should be starting Wilson Chandler at the 3 to see what he can do & put Curry on the bench & start D Lee... come on, Curry w/2 rebounds in the DEN game is what he calls "playing as well as any other bigman in the league"? i'm 1 of Curry's supporters here, but enough is enough... if you're gonna try & motivate these players to play harder, u have to make examples of guys like Marbury & Curry who aren't bringing it every night.
