What type of players represent the heart of the true NYC basketball fanatic? What players represent nyc?

The purpose of this is, not only for fun but to send a message to MSG. We have to let them know what we want cuz its clearly obvious that they have no freakin clue.

Using current players, choose a starting 5 at least. Describe why you chose your players and how they would mesh together. What would be your teams identity? Could your team win it all? Why? How?

Please try to make it as realistic as possible taking the salary cap into consideration.

If you choose to use retired players that's fine.......this is all about sending a message to these scum bags @ MSG.

After a few posts, I will start to log info that we all agree on below. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

Ultimateknicks Dream Team:

PF:

Sf:

C:

Sg:

Pg: andre miller

Hard to make it realistic salary wise. But maybe I can figure out a way to describe what I'm thinking.

C: This is your Franchise player. I'm a Knick fan so who do you think I'm gonna pick. A great center who does it all- scores in a variety, rebounds and intimidates in the paint. Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson these are the guys that I'm thinking.

PF: You want a hard working, no-nonsense tough guy who's gonna take pressure off your big on the defensive end so they can be free to block shots. And also the guy that's gonna box out. And most importantly is gonna intimidate. If someone comes into the paint, this guy is gonna make them pay. Charles Oakley is the prototype PF to put next to such a big. But there are other guys that fit the bill in their prime, like fellow Knicks Anthony Mason or The Davis boys from Indiana.

SF: This is where you want a do it all 2 way player. He doesn't have to be a great scorer or shooter, but someone who can slash into the paint, set people up and lock down the perimeter. Lebron James is the ideal, Scottie Pippen is the prototype- but that would cost too much. In the interest of saving cap, Tayshaun Prince seems to fit this role nicely, despite the fact that he looks like an alien.

SG: Because you've got your lockdown 3, this frees your SG to be the guys to space out the floor, come off of screens and bust zones. I like a pure shooter here. Reggie Miller is perfect. Others who work are Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Mitch Richmond. Even lesser sharpshooters like Dell Curry and Hersey Hawkins could fit this role if your strapped for space.

PG: I want a smart player who can penetrate into the lane and feed the post and be a pest on D. My ideal PG under any scenario is John Stockton. Modern day guys include TJ Ford, Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Even a guy like Andre Miller could be the right kind of PG.

Well the SG is someone more like Gordon than Kobe I guess. I'd even take a Kapono or Korver if I could get my Center. The Center is someone they don't have and someone who doen't really exist in this NBA other than maybe Duncan, possibly Yao.

This entirely unrealistic, but I'd say these are the types of players Knicks fans would embrace:

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Gerald Wallace
PF: Carlos Boozer
C: Tyson Chandler

a couple years ago when people thought French Frye was the 2nd coming of Bosh the board was so anti-Boozer. rumor was he could've been had for a similar pckge given up for Zach his rookie year.

with that being said this is an excellent starting 5.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

I think I dreamed about this last night:

C: Maybe Curry, but preferably shotblocker.

PF: You have to pencil in David Lee here.

SF: I dreamt we traded ZBo for Nocioni & Joe Smith

SG: NOT Jamal Crawford

PG: Pencil in Mayo or Rose (luck of the bouncing ball)

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

How about this:

C: Sam Dalembert
PF: Amare Stoudemire
SF: Ron Artest
SG: Martell Webster
PG: Brevin Knight (Maybe except 2 or 3 years ago)

I'll give you a 'realistic' knick line up:

PF: David Lee
Sf: Wilson Chandler
C: Zach Randolph
Sg: Demetrius Nichols
Pg: Mardy Collins

Bench: Nate, Balkman & ?

This group is far under the cap- all will expend effort & are two way players. Add 1 superstar via draft & viola, a contender...

We are talking about NY type of basketball, right? Then:

PF: Kevin Garnett
SF: Renaldo Balkman
C : Marcus Camby
SG: Dwane Wade
PG: Kirk Hinrich

Thats a great defensive team anchored by its franchise players: Garnett and Wade

Right now, I would be happy with this:

PF: Zach Randolph
SF: Renaldo Balkman
C : Samuel Dalembert
SG: Martell Webster
PG: Jameer Nelson
