Did Stern Give Dolan Ultimatum On Isiah?
November 17, 2007 - 4:15 am
New York Daily News -
Knicks' owner James Dolan has not commented on Isiah Thomas' status since last March, when he awarded him with a contract extension on the way to a 33-win season. Dolan was upset following Sunday's loss to Miami and immediately after the game spoke to Thomas about reducing Marbury's role.

There are whispers around the league that Dolan has been contemplating getting rid of Thomas altogether. According to a source, NBA commissioner David Stern approached Dolan at the Board of Governors meetings last month in New York and told him, "Either you take care of it or I will," referring to Thomas in the wake of the Anucha Browne Sanders verdict.

Dolan told at least two fellow owners that he owes Thomas approximately $24 million and that if he were to fire Thomas he will make him fight to get his money, according to a person familiar with the conversation. Dolan refused to pay former coach Larry Brown the remainder of his contract, forcing Brown to have Stern arbitrate a settlement last year.

This is such a dysfunctional organization that we require Stern to arbitrate salary settlements on an annual basis!

Now we see why they haven't bought out Malik, James, Marbury, et al. Even Dolan has his limits.

Between the sexual harassment suit by the Rangers dancer and Dolan's breach of contract suit against Isiah this looks to be another promising off-season.

Get in the Zamboni.

Nice, peace out Assiah! all we need now is for son dolan to be relieved from his duties and let Daddy Dolan take over the day to day operations . Hire a new President of b-ball ops of the knicks and he will assigned this team a G.M. who can build a championship team .

Oh yeah buy out Marbury!

if this happens, us knicks fans can see a dream come true on a championship in a few yrs.

Buy out half his contract and trade him. Half a contract and next year, his last, is very attractive. Um telling you's, it's the only way. Why buy him out and get nothing at all back?

Marbury isn't worth anything especially since he pretty much gave himself a negative image throughout the b-ball world. we have other assets on this team to get a couple of find players.

If we buy him out, he should just retire! He won't help no team out there.

I never said he'd help another team. What I said was 'if you buy out half of the contract, with an aspiring one next season, it makes it easier for some one to deal with it by next year. There is a possibilty that someone might want to take the contract, because of those two reasons. It's been known to happen. With half a contract for them, they could even limit his minutes and not have to start him, because they wouldn't have to pay him as much. On the other hand, we have' to almost start him because he makes too damn much.
I'll never trust this' team again.
