The controversial point guard went AWOL yesterday, casting his future with the club in doubt and placing the Knicks in a state of chaos after only five games. The Daily News has learned that Marbury made his decision to return to home to New York once he was informed on the charter plane Monday afternoon that he would not be starting against the Phoenix Suns.
According to a person close to the team, Marbury's air rage began when Eddy Curry, following a conversation with Isiah Thomas, told Marbury that he and Marbury were being pulled from the starting lineup against the Suns.
Upon hearing that he would back up second-year guard Mardy Collins, Marbury marched toward the front of the plane to meet with Thomas. Five minutes later, an enraged Marbury told his teammates that if he wasn't starting he wouldn't suit up for the game. But it was something else Marbury said that stunned his teammates in the back of the luxury plane.
"Isiah has to start me," Marbury fumed, according to the source. "I've got so much (stuff) on Isiah and he knows it. He thinks he can (get) me. But I'll (get) him first. You have no idea what I know."

In pro sports a whole generation of self entitled individuals have emerged the usually we see just breaking a few laws and actions consistant to no self sexual discipline.

Marbury I think is a not a bad guy but this self importance regardless of his on court performance has really warped him into a disfuntional monster to himself and his family. He consistantly is trying to prove himself worthy to even himself.

He is emotionally breaking down and not able to handle this pressure. He has painted himself into a bad corner and it would appear is battling many demons. Im starting to feel bad for the guy.
He is becoming a posterboy for the entitled pro athlete that has been given so many privileges he has lost his footing on reality.

He is really in need of acceptance. Im sure Isiah has tried many times to mentor this kid but lets be real, the arena they are operationg is not just personal. This is big business and they both sold their soul to the devil.

Marbury should just count his money and take a payout of 20mil and walk away, learn to read and get an education of some sort to booster his self esteem. The guy is hurting and all he knows is money and basketball. I think he has tried to evolve but really is lacking in many areas.
