Is this a situation where coming out of summer league Isiah wanted to bench him all along, but didn't want to humiliate him by doing it in his home town?

I actually like this, or what I'm going to refer to as "The Honor Theory."

You can refer to as it the "Honour Theory"

We spell things a little differently here in Canada...

If that were true, you would be "colourfl1".
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Marbs is no leader. He is a very good player but not a smart player.

This team will never make an impact without defencive fortitude...
that is why *berry is a liability...
you can't teach this dog any new tricks. I hope we can purge his influence on the team.

Purging Marbury isn't going to do a dang thing if Zeke doesn't get purged, too.

Isiah is trying to reclaim his authority and award minutes for defensive effort... wasn't that the whole point of having depth that runs 10 men deep.

How many of our ten guys play defense? The ones that do can't score or are playing injured right now.

Look at the big picture:
Look at the young core of the past 2 years...

Collins, Balkman, Morris, Chandler are all strong defenders at this stage of their development... the bedrock of youth for the past 2 years have all been targeted to infuse a future defensive identity ...

Didn't LB used to start people according to their home town?
That was bad, right?

The issue here is that Isiah would not bench *berry for the home opener and stretch in front of his hometown for not taking a leadership role in dedicating his efforts to defense.

I agree with this theory. And judging by the results this was definitely the right way to handle it. At least now Marbs isn't embarrassed.

The only thing predictable about knowing how *bury will react is that he will always be completely unpredictable.

I think Isiah has given everyone a few games under their belt- and if its to be believed that there were plays called that Marbury didn't run, then that sealed his fate, regardless of how he played defense or not.
Was Isiah planning on benching *berry all along... but didn't want to do it in his home town?
