Since 1982

LA Lakers - Magic Johnson, Jabbar
Philly- Dr. J, Malone
Celtics- Bird
Pistons - IT, Rodman, Lambeer, Dumars
Bulls- Jordan, Pippen, Grant, Rodman
Rockets- Olajuowan, Drexler, Horry
Lakers- Shaq, Kobe
Pistons- Ben Wallace, Billups, Hamilton
Spurs- Duncan, Parker, Ginobili

Notice a pattern here?
Most of these teams repeatedly won except for Philly and the 04 Pistons.
They all had the best players in the NBA and major superstars. The 04 Pistons are an exception but I considered B Wallace to be a top 10 player that year. He was abusing the whole league and his defense was a force to be reckoned with. The Pistons were underdogs but prooved that the team concept in basketball always prevails over individual peformance.

The point is why the f....k are we wasting our time with the players we have been recruiting? If we look at past and recent history we can see who the winners are and aren't. I can understand the 90's Knicks teams that I grew up with. We had a franchise player in Ewing and a chance to reach the Finals nearly every year with Harper, Starks, Oak, Mase followed by LJ, Spree, Camby and H20. These guys were all winners.

Do Dolan and IT want to win? Do they know how? Do they just want to make hte playoffs and that's it? How about the fans who support the team and are partially responsible for making it what it is? Perhaps they should contact Bip, Isles, MS and the rest of our Ultimate Knicks community to find out how to win?

I have been saying since 2001-2002 to get cap space and draft instead of investing in rent a titanic players. My philosophy is that we have nothing to loose by following this formula. It is now 2007, nearly 2008.

Good players will want to come to NY because NY has charisma and my hope is that a good player would relish leading us to the promised land. We havent had a good player in a long long long long time.

So far our GM has acquired other teams left over players year after year after year at twice or more the market price. Seems like we are now a landfill rather than the mecca of basketball.

I would love for our owner to get a GM in here who will use a common sense approach without all the pressure to bring a winning team back to NY. A team that takes pride in their performance and plays gritty defense. The Spurs are a dynasty because they have Duncan and because they are always one of the best defensive teams in the league year in and year out. This is/has never been rocket science.

Once again why do we waste our time? I watch the team on TV now. Unfortunately I chose not to renew for a second year micro-plan for my girlfriend and I. Apparently MSG is missing my precense and monetary contribution.

Funny I used to cry and have temper tantrums in my early teens when the Ewing-led Knicks would not get the job done. Since he retired my passion for the Knicks has grown less and less each year. The passion for the team will alwways be there, but def not for this group of athletes.

Capitalism , $$ has watered down the NBA beyond belief. Glad I got to watch some late 80's - 90's basketball. Not sure what kind of garbage we and today's kids are watching now days.

Offdameterzzz, it's always a pleasure to read your posts. Wish you posted here more, like you did at least on MSG. I agree with you 100%, but the problem is, I don't think change is in the works. Isiah proved he's not going for capspace with the Randolf trade, and he keeps trading for mediocre guys and drafting role players. It doesn't look like things will change. I just stick around, hoping Charles Dolan or David Stern will interfere and change things, or AT LEAST a new GM will be smarter in how he handles things.

this is why a true fan is hoping of losses- that that might lead dolan to eliminate his isiah thomas addiction.

I do not like to see the team loose, but i do see the logic in it. I assume loosing will eventually or hopefully lead to tearing it up and starting over. This hasn't happened or worked out yet and we have been loosing this whole decade.

I would love for Dolan to relinquish control, give the team back to his Paps and get new management in here. Unfortunatley that doesn't appear to be happening tomorrow either. On the bright side we can look foward to our currently increased rates on our Cablevision bills and future increased rates on any Knicks tickets to help pay for Randolph's contract and fatten Corporate America' pockets.

35 years and counting. I am sympathetic to fans of the team who were born and watching knicks basketball since 1973.
